Ion damage and large ships (Slave I, Falcon, Shuttle)

By hammerghast, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Just wondering exactly how it works; it specifies that they do not suffer ion effects until...two tokens are placed on them? Does that mean one Y-wing hounding a Lambda shuttle cannot itself do ANYTHING? or is it "hit 1, token, no effect, hit two, second token, effect" ?

Sorry if this has been brought up already, there's no effective way to search these boards.

Thanks!

One Y-Wing hounding a shuttle by itself is perfectly capable of ionizing the shuttle, albeit over two or possibly more rounds. It works like the second part of your question. Ion tokens are NOT removed during the End phase like Focus and Evade tokens are. A single Ion token on a large ship will remain on the ship until (1) it suffers another hit from an Ion weapon, thereby gaining a second (or possibly third) Ion token and causing the Ion effect for the following round, or (2) the ship is destroyed.

(I'm probably missing something here, but Buhallin will correct me if I am :D.)

They do not suffer Ion effects until 2 tokens are placed on them.

However, the removal of the Ion Token is part of the effect.

A single Y-Wing hounding a Lambda Shuttle with the Ion Cannon Turret will Ionize it every other turn

To clarify and piggy back...

My Y-Wing hits a Firespray with its Ion Cannon. The Firespray is dealt 1 damage and receives an Ion Token, correct? Then, because it only has 1 Ion Token, nothing happens and the Token remains.

Yes.

The following turn, your Y-Wing hits the Firespray again. The Firespray is dealt 1 damage and receives a 2nd Ion Token.

The turn after that, the Firespray is forced to perform a 1 White Forward, and discards the Ion Tokens.

Thank you. Just wanted to make sure the damage was still applied each time. But I guess that if it didn't, why bother even giving the Ion Token? Its part of the same sequence of events.

100% clarified, thanks.
