Edited by Blail BlergTIE Advanced lists
Okay. Looking to have a try flying some TIE advanced fighters.
(Mostly because they look cool, partly because everyone rags on them).
I accept that Advanceds - especially multiples of them -are at a disadvantage. Fine. But I want to do as well as I can with them.
Any other 2 x advanced lists people can recommend?
I'm a fairly new player & so far care more about a list being fun to fly against a friend than being competitive. With that in mind I've been toying with this idea:
Colonel Jendon w/ ST-321 & Weapons Engineer
Darth Vader w/ Squad Leader & Concussion Missiles
Maarek Stele w/ Veteran Instincts & Concussion Missiles
99pts
T/L & Focus on 2 ps9 missile attacks sounds good to me (though maybe not to my friends...)
Who says only rebels can enjoy action passing shenanigans?
*edit*
Oops, forgot you've gotta spend those locks to fire... Maybe drop VI & swap the missiles for the homing variety to save T/L for the re-roll?
Edited by TheMandalorianCandidateVader is a master at missiles because he gets two actions. I used to try ordnance all the time but now I never use them unless I can focus and TL is one turn. Your setup will help with that but if you have not run a shuttle much then you will find that it is very hard to fly well.... Unless you put engine upgrade and advanced sensors on it. I never run the shuttle without those anymore. With those two upgrades you can completely turn a shuttle in two turns. The last thing you want is a shuttle that can't turn left for last.
Ran Vader & Jendon as part of a 200 pt game along with some TIEs & interceptors with good results, slow played the shuttle right down the middle. Outnumbered the opponents 2:1 so they had too many targets to outfly the shuttle, but we were all noobs, so it's not saying much. Have read that advice about the lambda before... So many options, not enough games!

Agreed on that; one-use ordnance is **** expensive at 4-5 points a shot; you can't afford for it to fail. It's the reason I was looking at Push The Limit on Maarek Stele; focused homing or concussion missiles are as near as **** it four garuanteed hits.
For similar reasons, opportunist might be nice on Vader, but I'm concerned that with his high pilot skill it'll be rare he actually gets a target he can use it on. Plus clearing stress off an advanced is a ball-ache.
I don't see why they wouldn't make a title for it.
Title:
Tie Advanced only (So No Vader)
Tie Avenger
+1 Attack
2 Points.
This makes it worth while, and yes you have to pay more, but +1 attack is worth it.
Well, I tried the first list with bombers 2 times yesterday and went 1-1. It was against Wedge, Luke Biggs. First game I made an error at the start so I could not launch my missiles during the first round of attack, I got raped. Second game, I removed both Seismic charges, and took Sqaud Leader on Jonus and a second flechette for the Bomber. It was better. It's a build that rely a lot on the first strike, if it goes well, the opposition have a hard time to recover; if it goes wrong, you can only cry. To be fair, it was not the easiest team to test it. All his ship was moving after me so it was harder to set my missile strike and I had no choice but to target Biggs. I do believe that against other build, it could go pretty well. The 3 agility and 2 shield help a lot to survive the first attack. I'll have to try it again against another team.
