So You Got and E-Wing at AoIA, Now What?

By ghaerdon2, in X-Wing

I think the Phantom is going to shake up the meta a bit in my area. We might finally see more PS 5+ small ship builds. One thing I was thinking about running is the following:

Corran

-R7

-Marksmanship

-FCS

Wedge

-Predator

-R2

Biggs

Biggs will die a glorious death every single time but maybe just die a little later since Wedge and Corran both hit incredibly hard. The Wedge/Corran duo has been able to completely wreck Phantoms as long as I can get a bead on them, which is a bit easier with the high PS.

Or you could run Corran + R2 + Opportunist + FCS

Or you could run Corran + R2 + Opportunist + FCS

I actually tried that and it can be very powerful, but you can't use opportunist on the second attack. If you do use the second attack I've found its better to boom and zoom away while selectively target locking as necessary for a defense buff instead of trying to turn in the furball where you might find yourself the center of too many guns. Just my experience with it though. Still learning with the new ship.

Why can't opportunist trigger second round?

Why can't opportunist trigger second round?

It's declared per attack and you can't use it if you have a stress token. During the second attack you already have a stress token from your first attack.

I still like the Biggs and Etahn option, the E out flanks, while Biggs sticks with the main group.

I do however like the EBXX option Cubanboy gave.

Incidentally you can do EBXX with Biggs and Etahn, it's 100 points without any upgrades:

100

Etahn (32)

Biggs (25)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Pilot skill at 5-5-2-2 is nice for formation flying.

Edit: ninja'd, horsepire already posted this on page 1, reading fail!

I feel validated in not being an x-wing newbe anymore. Woot woot

No, no you have it all wrong. You shoot 3 dice with a focus, get a TL from FCS, then Opportunist the second shot for 4 dice TL in the face.

I see. I thought you were asking why you can't use opportunist for both attacks. If you're really building for that second shot, wouldn't it be better to save the focus for the second shot?

Hey, that's the list I posted on the first page!

Do I win something?

That's the first list I'm going to try when my E-Wing arrives...though I must admit I'm also intrigued by the Wedge-Biggs-Corran combo.

Oops, reading fail on my part! Well, it's a good looking list. ;)

Try out R2-D2 on Corran, it's absurd.

Etahn, R2-D2, VI

Rookie pilot X 3

Corran

-R2-D2

-engine upgrade

-FCS

-PTL

Tala squadron Pilot x4

100 pts.
