Holocron + Campaign Manager

By cheeseWizard, in Game Masters

Hi guys.

I was thinking that since I've been pretty much shivved into the GM role for now, I may as well start developing some tools which will help me keep track of everything in a nice, organised fashion. I have Empire Legends on my phone, but in doesn't really gel properly with me, unfortunately. Too much typing, not enough resource sharing with the community and making it easier to just sit down and play.

So, in that vein, I've started working on an open source Java library to help with it all. I thought I'd start with putting some common locations at the GM's fingertips in a really nice and organised way, then gradually start adding components that will let you keep track of players, obligation, NPCs and story events for each group you run. I'm a little new to it all, though, so I may as well ask about some things I can aim for early on from the more experienced people on here :)

Fire away with your suggestions! Hoping I can get my XML structure into place over the next week or so and then continue onto a prototype over the next month.

EDIT: I'm also a little bit worried about copyright, but I'm assuming as long as I keep the words "Edge of the Empire" out of the title, reference the relevant copyright owners and ensure I make it 100% clear it's an unofficial app I should be ok.

Sounds like a great idea. I'd definitely help with testing.

Also, on copyright, OggDude's character generator does well with referencing book page numbers for non-numeric things, like talents, species descriptions, etc.
