Recently, we came up with the idea of adding some melee weapons as our favored weapon, but the GM told that is not possible since the Standard Regimental Kit only allow to add either Basic or Heavy Weapons to ourr Favored Weaponry (we wanted those Eviscerators so badly) but after reading some entries of Hammer of the Emperor we found that many regiments have not one, BUT TWO, Favorite Melee Weapons and Pistols which tecnically don`t qualify
And soon the controversy expanded whether or not we could add this weapons, as some of squad-mates also wanted to add some Maccabian Holy Grenades, which ALSO don`t qualify.
Can you help me clarify whether is possible or not?
Melee, Thrown and Pistols as Favored Weapons
There are rules for even adding an eviscerator to the standard kit of any soldier on the field (With the GMs permission as anything else) but the standard creation rules do not cover that thing for it is NOT standard.
As you might have notices most of the premade regiments are made from quite popular regiments of the WH40k franchise and for some parts they do NOT follow the rules for creation as presented to you in every aspect. That is intentionally and because there exists an exception that does not make it a general rule. Think of them being custom regiments or house ruled to begin with.
But honestly, I simply believe your GM does not want all of you to run around with a frigging Eviscerator, ask him about that. Maybe his argument (not a standard rule) was only put forward because that makes it easier for any GM to prevent any discussion in the first place.
Well the thing is that he didn`t have a problem giving us the Eviscerator if we paid the 20 Regimental Kit Points, he doesn`t usually restrict us on what gear we can carry as long we can justify it with good background for the regiment and nice role play, as long as we play "by the book" whenever possible. That is why this issue with the favored weapons became so confusing...
Well, then by RAW there is a very clear paragraph about the stuff that can be your favored weapon. Everything else is interpretation and GM-Goodwill. The premade Regiments are not made to represent the Creation rules for regiments but to offer fluffy inspirations and also nice regiments to play as.
Well that`s too bad, I guess we will have to pay for the big sword anyway. Thanks for the help
