Quad laser cannons power

Yes.

Attack with the single double the defender agility.

2x2=4

No range bonus

If it was primary then he would have 5

Range bonus does not take effect with secondary, but obstacles still count, so +1 for each asteroid /huge ship/obstacle you fire through

It's actualy +1 if obstructed, regardless of how many obstacles are in the way. If you some how manage to line up 10 asteriods between you and your target, the defender still only gets one extra dice.

Unless it was mentioned in a faq, that how I've played and seen others play

Nothing in the FAQ about this.

Rulebook page 20:

Attacking Through Obstacles
Obstacles represent space features that are difficult to fire through.

When measuring range during combat, if the edge of the range ruler between the closest points of the two ships overlaps an obstacle token, the attack is considered obstructed. Because of this obstruction, the defender rolls one additional defense die during the “Roll Defense Dice” step of this attack.

Can an attack count as obstructed twice?

Edit:

The defender rolls an extra die not because of the obstacle. He rolls the extra die because the attack counts as obstructed.

With one asteroid, the attack counts as obstructed. The defender rolls one extra die.

With two asteroids, the attack counts as obstructed. The defender rolls one extra die.

Ya, that all I can find.

I believe I've seen this discussion on here before and the census was yes. Firing through two asteroids equal 2 evade

Yeah there is nothing in the rules about +1 dice per obstruction. Only that an attack is or isn't obstructed, it's a binary status, yes/no. If an attack is obstructed, you get +1 defense dice, period. How many objects there are simply doesn't factor into it at all.

Also the Huge Ships rules doesn't give an additional +1, it just creates another case where an attack is considered obstructed.

Ok, guess I was wrong.

I could have sworn though that I've seen this discussed somewhere, which is why I thought so.

Oh well, better to get it right now rather than later

Thanks for pointing that out

I could have sworn though that I've seen this discussed somewhere, which is why I thought so.

It has been and maybe that was the prevailing opinion when you read it.

Can anyone find that thread?

So I assume the community agrees, firing through multiple asteroids only grants you one Def dice?

It's actually +1 if obstructed, regardless of how many obstacles are in the way. If you some how manage to line up 10 asteroids between you and your target, the defender still only gets one extra dice.

"Never say never."

And I know someones going to get away with calling it trolling for proving them wrong,

but there is always that exception that comes up...

In the unlikely event that the target is behind a friendly CR90 with EM Emitter... +3

Proving someone wrong isn't trolling. Throwing up a completely unrelated issue and claiming to prove them wrong, however, is.

EM Emitters change the number of dice which are added if the huge ship is part of what's causing the obstruction. It does absolutely nothing to affect the point Smuggler was making, which is that shots are either obstructed or not, and it's +1 regardless of how many obstacles are in the way. If there's an EM Emitter involved, it's +3 no matter how many obstacles are involved. If you set two huge ships, both with EM Emitters, right next to each other and fire across both, it's +3 dice, not +6. If you fire across those two ships and a half-dozen asteroids, it's +3 dice. If you fire across those two ships, one asteroid, three container-As you got from Shapeways and painted yourself, and that little unicorn you insist on using as an obstacle because it brings you luck and anyone who doesn't let you play with it is just forcing tournament rules on you... still +3 dice.

Also, anyone else find it ironic that gabe started his response with "never say never" when he was responding to a post that didn't actually say "never"? It's like strawman metatrolling raised to an art form.

Where can I get me one of thems unicorn things?

buhashyt I say: what a bit of 'tarded reasoning,

"Never say never" is an expression that's why it's in quotes,

no one needed to say it because it refers to the exception,

right there in the same line, ha ha ha.
