Does this irritate anyone else?

Yeah, I agree with the OP; sometimes it can be annoying. For the most part I have had good fortune with my list threads, except for the Imdaar list thread where I specifically stated I wanted to run a MODIFIED Baron's focus list (with Krassis and an RG instead of the BH + Fel) and was told: "drop Krassis to a BH and upgrade the RG to Fel." O_o

Yeah sometimes advice comes from left field and totally guts the original idea, but it's nothing to be annoyed by. Just disregard advice that doesn't suit your style. No harm, no foul.

Honestly I think having someone completely disregard what you asked to be at least a little annoying. It shows at the least a lack of respect. Now if intent wasn't stated all's fair, but it seems a lot of people just look at lists without reading the words before or after and then start handing out advice.

I feel I could use all of the help I can get. But I do like when I can stick fairly close to the main theme of my original squad.

just didn't think you were considering the fact that some players haven't ever heard of Biggs walks the Daggs before

I have never heard of it being called that...

Neither have I, but it makes a whole lot more sense that way. I never understood Biggs walks the Dogs. It doesn't really tell you what's in the list.

Biggs has three ships on a Range 1 leash; they're all out in front, basically pulling him along. Makes sense to me.

It's the frequency with which I see it happen that makes it difficult to continue to disregard it. And besides, I don't propose lists here. So i'm not being personally offended, it's just that I see this happening to other people's proposed lists. And yes, I think it's unoriginal and rude, and it clutters up otherwise good threads.

It's about as annoying as threads asking why other people do something that's annoying.

I get what you're saying. Sometimes when I ask for advice to improve a list I built as a variation of common popular lists I get replies that tell me to revert to the latter. I don't blame ppl for it but its just not the advice I'm looking for when my intention is to have something different from what is already popular. Up till now I have never flown the Death Star Trench Trios, Vanilla Tie Swarms, Han Shoots First, Triple Firesparys or Rebel Convoy lists although I know they've been proven to be effective. Building original lists is just a personal preference of mine.

I sort of feel the same way, if I can help it I won't buy a B-wing till Rebel Aces comes out(I want those proton rockets for my advanced/bombers/firespray) although I probably would need to pick up a regular B-wing then for Ibitisam and Ten Numb then,

Edit: Speaking of has there been any spoilage of the proton rockets(or the Kyle+Jan Crew Cards) I assume they are trying to wait until the Wave 4 release is done first to rebuild the buzz back up but I was unsure of if I missed something

The thing that irritates me is all the threads asking about poor play, cheating, irritating...etc.

Give constructive feedback on lists. You never know which list or which advice will bring ou the next big thing.

The amount of advice given that's all the same tho !?! If ppl wanted howlrunner in a list they'd run her.

My only issue is when people give advice and that advice makes it clear that they didn't actually bother reading the OP.

You see it with 'what to buy posts' as well. Someone will say they have enough money to buy 1 small Imperial ship, and yet you have people telling them they should buy a 2nd or 3rd core set, a YT-1300 and a Firespray...

Giving advice is great and sometimes the best advice isn't going to fit in well with what the OP is looking to do. Advice on how to best make a 100 point 2 X-Wing list is pretty much going to be "don't do it."

but at the same time people should pay more attention to what the OP is actually asking and not just give blanket advice that doesn't work for the OP.

The advice is free. Take it for what it's worth. It's up to you to decide if you want to use it or not. Only the op really knows what he's asking for. And he might be given an idea he never thought of. Id never dream of putting sensor jammers on b's. But after seeing it recommended and asking players how it ran, I'm considering a list built around that. How can a differing opinion be a bad thing if your looking to get the most out of your squad.

Maybe just add PtL.

While some people may be trying to be creative or bring a new line of thought outside the norm, there are just as many or more newer players who post their builds that legitimately don't know what things are commonly held to be "good" already.

There are a lot of upgrades in this game, and quite a large number of them are of questionable value or require a specific setup to get the most out of them, and many new (or even intermediate) players don't know all this yet. I have recently been helping a friend with his squad building and it's challenging to try and push someone in the right direction without outright rejecting their ideas and blatantly pushing them toward stock competitive lists and ship ratios.

That said, I have seen plenty of cases where the OP's list gets modified beyond recognition and that does seem a bit silly, especially when they state an objective like "I'm trying to make X type of list that is outside the norm."

Yea I had a thread once where all I wanted was a choice between three very similar lists and nothing more. I think only like two or three people out of at least a dozen or more actually picked a list for me, the rest just listed their own variations. I even added a post re-iterating I only wanted people to pick one of the three lists, not give other suggestions, and some people got offended by that.

Uggh
