Imdaar Day 2 or Desperate Measures

By Skargoth, in X-Wing

So day one was kind of disappointing, I went 1-2 with my Bluebacca list. I made some mistakes, but I went against a TIE swarm by the only nonrebel player at the 8 man tournament and got pooped on. Many of these people will be back today to play again, soooo:

Same list with lessons learned?

Chewie, PTL, Engine, MF title

Blue + Adv Sensor x2

or switch up!

Biggs Darklighter

Tarn Mison

Dagger + FCS x2

OR the left field list:

Krassis Trelix, HLC, Recon Specialist

Howlrunner

Academyx3!

Input or tweaks appreciated in the 90 minutes until this match starts!

I ran a Krassis list like that at our last tourney. I can see how it would be strong if you knew how to fly it, which I didn't. Instead of recon I had stealth on Howlrunner.

Trade RecSpec for Mercenary Copilot. One less point, and you can use kiograns to keep the correct distance if you have to. You even still get a little bit of mitigation to your attack roll with Krassis' ability. It worked for me yesterday quite well, netting me just as many kills/cripples as Soontir Fel did. (Hitting the Swarm Tactics Wedge with Injured Pilot in round 2 of shooting was especially delicious).

My version of the Bluebacca was:

Chewbacca + Opportunist + Han Solo

2x Blue Squadron Pilot + Sensor Jammer

It was a seriously tanky list. I won the 26 man Imdaar tournament here with it (though I had two super close calls and actually lost to the person I would eventually beat in the final match).

All your lists are pretty solid. I suggest if you are playing the same people that you play a different list. Give the Imperials a try. See how they do. :)

My Bluebacca list is Chewie + Luke + Falcon with two Blue + FCS; there are two points left over for Expert Handling or Draw Their Fire with an initiative bid. I'm at about 10-4 with it, and three of those losses were very close.

How exactly does opportunist work on chewy. He's shooting before the blues so how are the tokens gone?

That second list was Dagger FCS not Dagger Adv, sowwy.

Sable congrats on the win. I would have loved to play you but I lost the first match and was sos out of the final 8.

If you don't have anyone stripping tokens, Opportunist essentially forces your opponent's action choice instead of providing extra damage. It's more subtle, but still effective.

Sorry you didn't make Top 8. I'm really surprised I won the tournament, especially with so many great players there.

Honestly, there isn't a lot of synergy there. It's more an upgrade of opportunity for when ships bump and lose actions. It is useful on high PS pilots, who have to decide whether to spend focus on attack and risk Chewy's wrath. However, it's not a stellar upgrade, but it did come in handy several times and saved my tail in one particular game when a B-Wing K-Turned, had no focus, and I had a range 1 shot, allowing me to do 5 damage in a single attack.

I wasn't using it every turn in other words. Certainly useful enough to justify 4 points, but didn't mesh well with the rest of the list. In the future, I'm going to switch it with Predator and drop Han Solo for C-3P0.

So what's your ideal Bluebacca assuming current legal additions?

So what's your ideal Bluebacca assuming current legal additions?

If it's a general question rather than one aimed specifically at SableGryphon, I'd say it's Chewie + Draw Their Fire + Gunner + C-3PO + Falcon title, accompanied by 2x Blue + FCS. Tons of durability, tons of offense, and above-average maneuverability; you're light on PS and definitely lacking in Agility, but those don't usually bite back very hard.

Ok sooo I think it will be...

Biggs

Gold + Ion

Dagger + FCS x2

Thoughts?

You gotta fly Biggs like a champ. XYBB can win. I wish I would have had FCS yesterday. Though it might not have helped a ton. I was rolling my red die very well. Unfortunately my opponents where rolling their greens better. And as always I could have flown better and not action denied myself.

I faced off against Sable in the first match at Imdaar with an XYBB (Gold + Ion + Stress Droid, Biggs, 2xBlue w/AS), and was destroyed. It's not a bad list, but as a newer player I had no counter for an aggressive approach at Biggs, and that pretty much ended the game within the first ten minutes. I found when I had time to setup my formation and didn't mistakes, it flew rather well. There's little margin for error if you don't fly Biggs properly.

Honestly, I found myself wishing a) I'd swapped out the stress droid for an R2 astromech, as the stress clearing would've helped against Ion shots at Ties, and b) I'd just gone with 4 X's...I've run it a few times, and there's more room for mistakes in there.

Yeah, Biggs is alright, but he does kind of force your opponent to focus fire. I'm glad you had fun and it was an interesting match. I barely pulled off the win in that tournament and I placed 2nd at another tournament today.

I think R3A2 on a Y-Wing is a serious mistake. The Y-Wing has almost no green on the dial and really needs actions to make the turret more viable. There are a lot more astromechs you can use. Consider something like R7-T1 if you can get one. Now you can target lock, then boost potentially out of arc or into range 2 if you are at 3. Makes the Y-Wing a more serious threat.

I've personally never been a fan of Biggs. I'm a new player so maybe I just haven't flown him or seen him flown (other than YouTube) like a champ. I agree with Sable as it forces your opponent to focus fire. I'd rather my opponent make a choice and build list that has multiple targets that are viable. I'll protect what I need for that match but want my opponent making choices and I can counter.

Hmmm....R7-T1 could be tempting. Would have to drop Biggs to make it work, but a 2x Blue with AS, 1x Blue with FCS, and Gold+ Ion + R7-T1 could force interesting decisions for an opponent with low agility.

Yeah, my problem with Biggs was that if I used him defensively, I was essentially taking away a quarter of my attack power (really more adjusting for the ion), and if I used him aggressively, he could be vaped in one turn.

I played a list almost exactly the same as Sable's and won, but it was pretty close.

You could always deploy countermeasures. Just take out everyone at the kneecap with a blunt instrument prior to the event starting.

I would be looking at a different list. It's what I'm doing after having several narrow losses in a row using the Scarlet Cowgirl. I find it's good but either I can't get the most out of it, or it's not quite good enough. I suspect it might be the first.
