Surprisingly there were only 10 people total including me at the event. From hearing about other events with low turnouts, I think FFG made a mistake by having them all be the same weekend, as well as having so many stores run them.
That being said, I ran a slightly modified squad that I've been running on vassal the past few weeks with a 20-6 record, but never flown for real yet.
Kath + HLC + Seismic + PTL (I've been using predator on vassal which is superior)
BH + Gunner
Academy
100 Points
I ended up going 2-0 which put me at third place, but one of the co-TO's was 2nd and didn't want to play in the final so I got bumped to 2nd and got to play in the final game.
I do admit I had a pretty easy path to get there. My first game was against the player who ended up finishing last. Then because we had 10 people, one of the 1-0 players had to play a 0-1 player for round two, and that ended up being me.
Round 1 Opponent had:
Royal Guard + PTL
Jonus + Assault + Seismic
Scimitar + Assault + Seismic X 2
The game got off to a bad start for me as I had Kath in the wrong spot for the first two rounds of combat so she had no shots. After that most things went my way. By closing the gap quick I was able to deny use of most of the assault missiles. One did get released by Jonus and did hit my academy for 1 damage, as well as give a splash damage to my BH. However one of his scimitars took a hit as well. He never got off the other two assaults, and only dropped 1 seismic that didn't hit anything. At one point it looked like I might get a modified loss, as I had both of his scimitars destroyed, and he had my BH destroyed and my academy almost destroyed with not much time left. If he had destroyed my academy and I did no more kills he would have got the modified win even though I had kath at full health still. Luckily I finished him off before time expired.
Final: 100 - 33
Round 2 Opponent had:
Chewie + VI + Nien Numb + Han
Dagger + Sensor Jammer
Blue + Sensor Jammer
This game was pretty close the whole way through. I made one possibly critical mistake about midway through the game. He had a shot on my 1 hull remaining academy at range 3. He got 2 hits and I only rolled 1 evade out of 4 dice. I threw my dice aside but then as I was taking my ship off the board realized I had a focus token that I couldn't see because of his falcon in the way. I'm pretty sure I had rolled at least 1 focus that would have saved me, but neither of us could remember for sure, so I did the honorable thing and let the kill stand.
Final: 100-12
For the final round I got stuck with imperials, and I already wrote a thread in the main forum about how badly that went so I won't say much more here. I resigned after I just barely killed my opponent's ewing, and probably would have finished off his z95 if we went another round or two.
Final: 33-100 (could probably have been 50-100)
The other lists present included:
7 Tie Swarm
6 Tie swarm with at least one interceptor
3 Daggers with HLC and FCS
Falcon with 2 HWKs
Jan with ion and squad leader, two rookies, and a blue bwing
I think final list was rebel, but don't know the makeup
EDIT: Forgot to add that I got the Z-95 as my prize. I really wanted the Defender for the predator cards, but my opponent picked it for the same reason. So I took the Z-95 for Blount.
