Xwing evolution:

By EmpireErik, in X-Wing

With wave four out, it is starting to look like things are gonna change..

What will the future hold?

I think lists with BZZZ will emerge, or BXZZ, etc.

Empire will start to see swarms dissipate and Phantom lists emerge.

Tie Ds will start to appear intermittently based on cost and performance...

Ideas?

yep. rebel swarms!

xxxzzz is a list.

Also, your thread title made me think "X-Wing pilots as High-School students who end the series in a fight against Apocolypse for some reason".

I think we're going to see a lot of Falcon lists. The Falcon does very well at countering Phantoms, interceptors, and defenders. It's pretty good at crippling Ties, especially with the right support. In the end this will make Phantoms very risky to play.

However it's also going to make less agile rebel builds less playable because if they face a Phantom they are done.

Firesprays and Tie Swarms will continue to do well, although the Tie Swarm will have trouble against the new high agility ships), but Shuttles are going to have a hard time if they run into Phantoms.

(Sadly, I think the affect we will see is a rise in Falcons, without much other change to the Meta. But I hope I'm wrong. I Hope All the new ships transform the meta into a place where everything(bar the advanced) is played in somewhat equal measure, and where positioning heavy lists stand a strong chance.

it really is a shame because as much as i like the YT-1300, it is slightly OP, and our Imdaar tourny proved it again where the top player was a Han shoots 1st.

One I'm really looking forward to, actually.

How does that prove the YT-1300 is overpowered?

If 7 tie swarms start dying off I'd be very glad. As of now they are still clearly the squad to beat when flown well, and it's not even close. Look at all the tie swarm lists in the regionals thread.

Frankly, if I'm worried about a Wave 4 meta, I'm gonna chuck Proton Bombs at the problem until it goes away.

3/4 ships die instantly to a Bombed-up Direct Hit. Even if I miss with one bomb, a second will be a guaranteed kill.

The Defender might take 3 bombs, but it's also the ship most likely to wind up behind me.
