1st Round - Han Shoots First vs Rebels
Asteroid placement seemed to put them close to the four allowed corners, with the others placed at random parts in the middle. Han and a Blue went down one side of the board while a lone blue went down the other way On turn two, Ibtisam was in a bad spo with no shot back as Han & the Blue both turned past an asteroid and caught it for range 2 and range 3 shots, respectively. From there, it was quickly downhill. The only damaged suffered was to the falcon, 2 shields removed. Rebels were tabled.
Winner: Han Shoots First
Bye: Bounty Hunters
2nd Round - Han Shoots First vs Bounty Hunters
Much of the same sort of asteroid placement, with the Firesprays going more towards the middle than to the sides. There was a bit more back and forth, with the Firesprays eating alive the lone Blue Squadron Pilot, while the one paired with Han managed to stick around for a bit of time. At one point, after the first Bounty Hunter was downed by Han, a second Firespray poorly maneuvered to a point where it fled off the edge. The opponent then maneuvered the third off after it took out the last B-Wing, down to one health thanks to Han chasing it down.
Winner: Han Shoots First
Bye: Rebels
3rd Round - Bounty Hunters vs Rebels
I missed the set-up of this round due to a food run with a bye, but when I came back, the action was thick in the middle of the board. Ibtisam made another early exit, much like Horton shortly afterwards. One of the Bounty Hunters was taken down before They cleaned up Ten Numb.
Winner: Bounty Hunters
Bye: Han Shoots First
Finals
Imperial - 100
Rexler Brath - 37
-Heavy Laser Cannon - 7
-Predator - 3
"Whisper" - 32
-Advanced Cloaking Device - 4
Black Squadron Pilot - 14
-Outmaneuver - 3
Rebels - 99
Tala Squadron Pilot - 14
Biggs Darklighter - 25
Etahn A'baht - 32
Luke Skywalker - 28
The asteroids seemed to be a bit heavier around the Imperial half of the board. Rebels went out spread while Imperials did the same. The TIE was on one side of the board, but immediately turned and started going up the middle. The opponent lined up Luke in front of Whisper, making it to where he was kept in check from being able to get away with decloaking/attacking in the early on parts of the match. The Imperial dice, for the beginning to mid part of this game, were cold, and Etahn managed to land a Stunned Pilot crit right after the Defenders' shields went down. The Defender and Black Squadron were knocked out in consecutive rounds after a bad maneuvering choice on the Imperial player's behalf. In a late rally, the Phantom managed to drop Etahn and Biggs before finally falling, to all things, the Z-95.
Winner: Imperials
What I took away from this event - The Defender is majorly points heavy as its, throwing ten points of upgrades on it as opposed to holding back and tossing out another body may have been a wrong choice in the finals. Either way, I now have a pretty TIE Phantom, and now await my order of 12 of the rest, and 11 more TIE Phantoms to arrive.
