Two Weapon Wielding and Forearm Weapon Mounts

By cpteveros, in Only War Rules Questions

Ran into similar thoughts about 3+ weapon wielding with forearm mounts/mechadendrites/heretekal biotech implants with a Magos in a Dark Heresy/Deathwatch game a few months back - we agreed that Two Weapon Wielder could apply to such attacks as normal but for each weapon making an attack beyond the second an additional -15 penalty was taken to ALL of the weapoans' attacks. ****** still managed to basically kite a Carnifex in a couple of rounds, but that was because he had lots of weapons and rolled insanely well.

A decent techpriest that is geared toward being a machien of war this is always rather easy. The gadgets he can aquire that also somewhat suit his fluff just make him insanely strong.

I had also a Techpriest that ingame achieved the rank of Archmagos Militant over a 3 years long campaign though he used the DH1 rule of spending your reaction to shoot stuff.

The sick part was that it was completely RAW to mount one of the heavy turrets of the Lathe Worlds Book on his back. They were not that heavy that he could not carry them around with ease and only required some solid and stable area to be mounted on and with the mining helots augmentation and some other stuff that was rather easy. With an integrated assault cannon that had storm, a balistic mechandrite for an inferno pistol and another one for an omnissian axe and some other basic weapons he could use in his left hand one handed he was a beast, even without some house rule that allowed even more attacks. (Some sights and MIU links just added so much bonus that a -15 penatly would be like nothing).

Imho they "nerfed" these talents for a reason while they seriously buffed two-weapon wielding, both in melee and range. All in all the system somewhat wants to control the amount of havoc you can cause and allowing some more attacks would make the PCs insanely strong - but also the NPCs if you actually allow them the same. Instag-gib arena.^^

You misunderstand - it was a -15 penalty for each weapon. So, with four weapons that would've been an additional -30 penalty to each of the attack rolls. Of course, he made up for this by generally only unleashing the fury when about 2m away from an enemy, but yeah, Archmagi Militant are ridiculous.

That being said, there is definitely a good precedence for telling the player "You failed so hard with swinging that you hurt yourself unless you can dodge it".

Except, you can't use Dodges on your own turn :)

So you can't dodge your own attacks, and you cant dodge counter-attacks made as responses to your own attacks.

Just a nitpick :)

De Eviscerator is a two handed weapon, since you are already using two hands to wield it you are not allowed to attack with an additional weapon, not even a forearm mounted one.

Depending on the current rules you might be able to use a MIU + Weapon MIU to shoot your laspistol
