And went 0-4 all day. The list I brought was just not working for me. I didn't even get passed my opponents shields in the first game and that really set the tone for the day. I think it's time to retire...
...and play again tomorrow.

Welcome to the club.
Haha know the feeling, my dice were cold yesterday I ended up 1/3 the 1 being a buy. I was killing stuff but not enough, kept leaving one HP on things and there being too many ships. Oh well try again today.
What was your list?
*Gives him a pat on the shoulder*
Been there buddy. Also been 4-0, so you know, it's all good.
I'll see you tomorrow.
i also went 1-3, in on turn one of my squints which had Stealth, focus and evade, op rolled 3 hits, i had 5 greens and rolled 1 eyeball and 1 evade so to survive i used all my tokens, the second shot came up hit and crit, i rolled 6 greens for 2 eyeballs and 4 blanks and the crit was 2 dmg.... that was just my 2nd game, and the pattern continued the rest of the day.
I ran:
Krassis w/ ion cannon
Lord Vader w/ engine upgrade and cluster missile
2x Academy pilot
Not a great list but it should have held up better than it did. I even had trouble against the 5 gold sq. list.
Well THERE's your problem.
I lost too....I got roflstomped. I even stuck around and played 1 'fun' game against the 2nd last place guy......he beat me. I think that makes me truly last.
1-2... I r disappoint. Gonna tweak for tomorrow.
I don't know if I psych myself out or what, but I always seem to do worse in competition than in friendly games.
I ran the 5xGamma bombers with seis charges, and won 2 lost one. I lost to 2 B's with Fire Cont and 2 Ys with Ion cannons.
Got ion'ed like crazy, and took out the Bs. Opponent changed his dials after placing one face-up because he was trying to stay out of my mine zones. Not happy there, and raised the issue, but did not get into a fight over it,...its just a game.
Did win a ship, the Tie D which was one I had an eye on.
The final game, showed the Phamton at work and wow!
Edited by EmpireErikoverall, it was a great event, and I had a lot of fun.
Thanks Fantasy Flight for the event.
I went 2-2 and tied for 4 place, and lost the op for a ship based on having a lower strength of schedule. There with you guys.
I've gone back and forth on the whole dice vs. skill argument and now I am back to dice. My first game, I was 18% on evades, I ran the 4x Royal Guards with PtL. My 13th die roll was my first evade and I had three eyes before that, the rest all blank. My opponent rolled seven evades out of his first nine dice rolls, 3 groups of three at the start of the early stages of combat. His first six dice were all evades. So, I am firmly back in the "it's a dice game" camp, solidly.
if it was not a dice game, it would all be certainties... Sometimes we roll good other times, the dice bites us.
Went 1-2 for 5th place with a list of:
Backstabber
Bounty Hunter w/ HLC
OGP w/ Gunner, EU, FCS
Academy TIE
Had fun, will probably not use that particular build again. Will try again tomorrow with a list I've never flown before.

Yeah my first game I only landed two hits...
After that my dice were more rational.
I went 1-3. My first "win" was a by. So...
The dice just weren't there for me. And when they were, they were MORE there for my opponents. My second game I lost 20 straight HPs without a single evade. I think I rolled 2 all game.
I got a poster for a consolation prize though!

Had a similar thing happen in my second game too. 25 combined Hull and Shields with only three or four evades, counting those modified by focus tokens. I made sure to offer appropriate sacrifice to Polyhedros after that...
Yeah I'm definitely gonna have to sacrifice a virgin or two. Or maybe the 3 (yes, 3!) maneuver templates and a dial my last opponent left behind. Although getting back my straight 3 that he accidentally took will prove more difficult if offered those up...
I was so close!
I got beat once, won the next round, and in the final round my opponent beat me by 10 points. He wound up with the Z-95 that I had my eyes on.
Oh well.
They were good games. Nobody came looking to win by lawyering better than their flying.
I went 4-1 for top 8 (actually placed 4th or 5th IIRC) out of 26, but was stomped by SableGryphon in the first elimination round.
I was tired and made a really bad move with Fel and then followed that up with rolling lots of blanks for 2 turns.
I at least feel good that I cannot blame the dice. My first game, I basically flew into the teeth of a swarm. That's all pilot error, baby.
Second game was totally dice. I found most of my deck's Direct Hits.
