Far Horizons is Q3 2014

By Midnight_X2, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Folks,

I was just checking the status of this new sourcebook (splatbook) and I see they have it listed for Q3. I'm a little late to the EotE party; has it been typical to go over the summer without a new release?

Also, do you think there will be any additional EotE releases this year (adventure books, splatbooks, etc.)? Just asking for opinions and I am aware it's just speculation.

While we won't see an Edge release during the summer, we should be seeing the Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook next month, along with the GM's kit and I suspect the first full-length adventure will be slated for the following month.

We might see one more Edge product before the end of the year, but I won't be shocked if we see an Age splat book mid 4th quarter.

There is also that little F&D thingy out in August, so I am thinking that's more than a couple releases this summer. Plus Q3 begins July 1.

Well, it usually takes 6-ish weeks to ship on the boat, which puts us - assuming it leaves the printers Monday - the second week of July. After that, it's 10-ish days to ship to the stores, so we're probably not getting our hands on it until the first week of August at earliest.

FFG has a pattern of having unannounced releases at GenCon. It's possible there will be an EotE book released at GenCon without any previous advertising or marketing.

most likely though it'll just be the Force and Destiny Beta that'll release at GenCon. but hopefully they'll announce more sourcebooks in the next month or so to cover the late Q3 and Q4 releases.

They might have the AoR Adventure might be the GenCon surprise release along with F&D beta WHICH I WANTS MY PRECIOUS! lol

I think there is the potential for quite a few announcements at Gencon. I believe EtU was displayed at Gencon last year. We are going to be at a point with 2 CRBs out and the last beta as well, so I would think it likely we will see some announcements for both EoE and AoR at Gencon.

well, announcements are one thing and having something readily available shortly after is another...

Lists available 8-14-14.

Lists available 8-14-14.

That means GenCon! :D

Looks like Operation at Arda is the same. Now we just need that announcement confirming the Force and Destiny Beta...

FFG is trying to take all my GenCon spending money. Those diabolical fiends!

August is an expensive game month. These 2 FFG books and I'm already on deck for 5e D&D PH. Just money, can't take it with you.....

Woohoo! When I first saw Q3 for this book, I thought for sure this would be towards the end of September with the focus on AoR and F&D beta. So happy we'll see it much sooner! :D

Darnit. If they plan on releasing both EotE and AoR sourcebooks every month, I'm gonna have to start drinking less to afford all this. :P

Or is this just a case of 'GenCon Mania', and afterward, we'll go back to one release per month?

Next week? Well, color me surprised. I though for SURE we were in a 6 week wait for the book to drop. That must have been a rocket power hydrofoil or something!

(also, the AoR adventure drops on the same day - so much for the "staggered release" theory!)

- Further, this means that means we've got nothing in the "Just announced" list. Everything that we know is coming is about to hit the shelves. The only things we have on the upcoming page is reprint stuff. So there has to be some kind of announcement at Gencon. . . .

Or the license is done and they're rushing it all out? :*(

This is the Gencon release blitz. Give them credit, they want to showcase new products for each of their Star Wars lines. Things may be slim for a bit after, but it doesn't mean anything.

Eh, I at least got my Politico book - I'm okay with this.

I think we are going to have FFG at least until they run through this model of the 3 CRBs and associated source/splatbooks. So that's likely to carry us through spring of 2016-ish. If they keep doing well I wouldn't be shocked to see them keep the license.

Any sightings yet? Should be hitting this week.

The site is being wonky today, so there is either a big content push coming, or the miniature people on Armada are overwhelming the server. Should be pretty soon for more info I would think.

I think the term "miniature people" is very disparaging to those that are of small stature.

:D

As was pointed out on the /r/swrpg channel earlier, the Cool Stuff Inc. website is showing the book in stock. They also apparently have the Onslaught at Arda I adventure in stock as well.
