When attending your local Assault on Imdaar Alpha matches, be sure to remember to bring along your 3DS! Don't want to miss out on all those potential Streetpass tags!

Especially if you play bravely default.
Why anyone would make a game that severely gimps you based on if other people carry around their DSes is beyond me. And at least I live in a more suburban area, I couldn't imagine taking an expensive handheld onto say, a subway, that's just asking for a mugging.
Sorry, rant over.
For now...
Well the design makes more sense in Japan. There's tons of people everywhere, and mass transit and other "sardine" conditions are ubiquitous. Plus they have better free WiFi networks there too. They're practically everywhere. Most of the achievements they could get easily, you'd have to take your 3DS to a Con in the States to even have a chance.
I don't get it.
Like another language... I need a language and protocol droid...
A 3DS is the newest Nintendo handheld gaming system (a fancy Gameboy). Nintendo built in a feature that let's you connect with others around you that also have a 3DS l, with some games having entire modes built around it. Basically, if I'm remembering right, when two people are in close proximity the 3DS' trade info and then you are able to connect to that person again later via internet.
In Japan, more people have the 3DS and more people rely heavily on walking and public transportation so its a useable feature. Here in the US, its almost impossible to use a lot of the time because you never find people with a 3DS.
You know, I doubt you'll get mugged over a 3DS. Compared to the prices of Smartphones and other Apple Products the 150 dollar toy for kids and twentysomethings(like myself) isn't going to be a highprofile target. Although I suppose fencing it at Gamestop for a copy of GTA 5 might appeal to some.
Heh, now I have the mental image of a gangbanger walking into gamestop with half a dozen 3DS's and wanting a trade in..

I haven't bought an mp3 player in years and avoid smartphones like the plague but I always assumed 150 was about the price range for most of them anyway. Falls into the "expensive electronics" subset in my mind.
Though yes, that is amusing, especially if you assume they'll only give store credit.
It's in the right price range. But it has the wrong kind of buyers.
Portable game systems get stolen by kids who want one and see any easy way to pocket them. They don't seem the type of thing you'd get mugged for. But my teenage delinquents don' live in a large enough area where I'd know exceedingly well. I just can't help but feel like any gangbanger who stole a 3DS would be embarassed when they tried to fence the thing.

thanks for the translation...
I wondered what a 3d object file format had to do with events and how you would go about it in terms of carrying it around.

Well on any given day if i walk around at a mall then i get about 6-10 tags. I also usually pick up a few at the FLGS. I also like to keep it on hand for my x-wing matches to take 3D pictures of cool formations. They look very good.

If someone wants to mug you they'll do it regardless of what you may or may not have. Happened to me just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Same here. They even took my bag of doritos.

True. I'm talking about the likelihood of a 3ds making you a bigger target though. It seems unlikely.

Well that's just it. Most muggers don't go for you based on what you have. They usually don't even know. They go by what kind of target you look like, and the opportunity to get to you.
