So I just won my Imdaar event.

By negative9, in X-Wing

Just got back. I ran:

Chewie, Falcon title, C-3PO, Determination, gunner

Gold Y-Wing, R-2, Ion turret

Blue, FCS

Ran the table.

final round I was Rebs

Horn, R7-T1, PTL, FCS

Tala squad, Homing missiles

Ten Numb, Proton torps, VI, Advanced sensors.

He ran

Echo

Turr

Bounty Hunter....I know you are supposed to use both new ships, but we were ok with it(fly casual)

Dice ran over me.

final shot Ten threw 4 dice at the BH and rolled 4 crits. lol. Horn was MVP though. took out the phantom at first pass.

Fun times, cool people. Hope you all enjoy your events if you can make em, and good luck.

P.S. I took the defender. wanted the phantom, but let my opponent have it cuz he was such a good sport about my god dice.

Well done! Can't beat that <%1 chance of rolling 4 crits paired with ten's ability... The force was with you.

That Chewie + Determination!

Was there anything else prize wise other than the wave 4ships?

Cards, tokens etc?

Why did you use Determination? Doesn't Chewies ability already do the same effect as that card?

Determination has the added effect of discarding a "pilot" crit the moment its revealed saving you hp.

Yeah it can turn 8 of 33 crits into 0 damage. Not good odds, but if it comes up, whew!

What did you run for the final round? How did it go?

My final round list is in the first post. I rolled like a god. not a good test for the new ships because I was on fire.

Determination saved me 0 damage in the first 2 games, in the 3rd, it saved me 2. So while I am not sold on it being the best upgrade....it did win me the 3rd game and get me to the finals.

I just won mine with a list I had never run before:

Chewbacca (42)
Opportunist (4)
Han Solo (2)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Sensor Jammer (4)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Sensor Jammer (4)

Total: 100

26 person tournament. I went 4-1 in the preliminaries. First two rounds I didn't lose a ship, lost the third rather soundly then barely won games 4 and 5 (both coming down to a single die roll). Made the Top 8 cut in the middle of the pack. Won against a mini TIE Swarm (Howl + 4 Academies + Soontir Fel).

Top 4, I then went up against Chewy + Opportunist, Biggs + R2F2 and Garven. He took out a B-Wing rather quickly, but I crushed Biggs and Garven and then hounded his Chewy down.

Final round my opponent chose Imperials (he beat me in round 3). I was mean with my list:

Han Solo (46)
Expert Handling (2)
Gunner (5)

Knave Squadron Pilot (27)

Lieutenant Blount (17)
Ion Pulse Missiles (3)

Total: 100

He took:

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

Colonel Vessery (35)
Predator (3)

"Whisper" (32)
Fire-Control System (2)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Total: 100

It was rather one-sided. Things became a cluster and the Z-95 ioned Whisper into the middle of it. The E-Wing, largely ignored, was a serious threat and chewed apart the Defender's shields. Blount got the first kill with a range one shot on a cloaked Whisper. Han crushed an Academy, then barrel rolled into a range 1 shot of Vessery. I rolled the first attack. Blank, Blank, Hit, Crit against a shieldless Vessery. As much as I wanted that crit I decided to roll again with Han. Hit Crit Crit Crit. He rolled two eyes (he had a focus). the two crits were both Direct Hits. He conceded with one hull left on the Academy versus my entire list.

I took the Phantom home, plus the Bandit alternate art card and I convinced the tournament organizer to give me the promo poster.

Just got back from two back to back Imdaar Alphas. Placed 1st in earlier one and second in the later one. Undefeated all day! (well, except for the final wave 4 ship round at the second tournament).

I now own a Phantom and a Defender

I'm all for having fun, and casual play in this game is a good time. but personally i feel FFG sanctioned events should adhere to the rules given on the event.

Part of the end challenge was to play 2 new things, not just one because of what ever reason.

Fly Casual is a mindset and attitude, not a disreguard for rules to avoid conflict with your opponent.

I agree Silver..he should have used both ships. But the tourney director was confused on the rules and announced that you only had to use one. I did not feel like starting up the argument with the the TD(cool guy), and make him look it up. Plus, I knew I would win.

And I didn't care what ship I got. I am working so much right now I doubt I will have a chance to use them until the full wave comes out anyway.

no its understandable.
It's tough with this game sometimes because everyone is essentially a friend more than an opponent.

Personally i would've been disappointed for the sole reason i think its a cool rule. Matches with list restrictions or squad guidelines add an element to it. making the playing field pretty even. and challenging the players to on the spot squad building. and testing your on the fly ability to make something good.
