Colds spread through contact, not through breathing, so masks are completely useless in most cases. I would probably refuse to play a game against someone that visibly I'll with something contagious. Hardly worth it for a chance to win a ship, or even to get a few games in.
Anyone ever do tournament while sick?
Please wear a mask for the comfort and safety of those around you. Good luck in the tournament.
Mask hell....go for the full HazMat suit and freak out your opponents.
That's not a good spot to be in K7 and I sympathize because I know your already isolated on P.E.I and are the designated driver for your group heading out to an event you REALLY want to go to.
Only you know how your body deals with being sick and only you will be able to make the call on whether you are too sick to go.
If you are well enough to attend, do wear a mask, bump elbows instead of shaking hands and use hand sanitizer when you can.
I have worn a mask at work many times when I felt sick and I never went once without having to explain why I was wearing the mask. People just don't get it. It is an etiquette thing and I wish more people practiced it. I've seen too many people be sick and just sneeze/cough thinking they were getting by, without caring if they were patient zero at work.
I wish you well K7.
You really have to ask advice on a games forum because you are sick!
If you're looking at a four hour commute I would just wait a few weeks for a ship.

Viable strategy?
All is fair in love and Space War...
Most germs can't live in space (THAT WE KNOW OF!). But you are not actually in space. If you believe yourself to be so, TONE DOWN the NyQuil! You are also not actually at war! Same advice if you find yourself actually thinking you are war as finding yourself in space...
Hangover? Sure I guess. Not my idea of fun.
Food Poisoning? I guess so. As long as you can reserve a table by the bathroom.
Migraine? Done that too. Makes it like chess- visualizing moves in your mind because watching hem with eyes open hurts like hell. Got in the zone SOOO much on that last one. My opponent kept asking how I was doing and by the end he laughed when I said "it is not my wellbeing that should concern you..."
I've played while on call for crisis and while having a Migraine, but Migraines aside I have been sick for longer than a day in years, and even then it's been stuff I've worked through. I've used one sick day ever...
K7, let us know how it turned out for you, if you went (and how did it go) or not.
If it is anything contagious, you really should not attend.
As painful as it may be to you this is actually the best advice. If more people would heed this suggestion and avoid putting others at risk the entire world would be a healthier place.
Isn't this how epidemics get going? One person is feeling a little "under the weather" but doesn't let it stop him so he goes out and spreads what he has to others who then pass it on as well. If only patient zero had stayed put things would have been a lot better for everyone else.
seems bio-warfare is still a bit frowned upon, perhaps we even could wring a cheap tactics thread out of it.
but seriously, this is something completely independent from the specific tournament case. If someone really has something contagious (even if it might be relatively harmless in itself), it might be a bad idea to attend an event where numerous people are in an enclosed spaced without the chance of really avoiding contact. If not, than not. It's less a question for a forum than for a doctor, who could have a look at the symptoms. I wouldn't dare to give any specific recommendation based on a vague description, on a topic for which I wouldn't be an expert anyhow.
Besides, asking a doc might be easier than finding qualified consensus on the internet.
Well guys sorry for the debate, but I was feeling better today. However, I did not get any sleep. I think I got some, but I saw every number on the clock.
I pounded the ginseng, fruit, and juice into me as much add I could. And spicy food.
I started to notice a difference around 2-3 am. Was kind of happy that I was starting to feel better, but getting angry that I couldn't sleep.
Maybe it was in my head more because my little fella had been very sick this week, but still, due to lack of sleep I couldn't drive. My buddy was kind enough to drive for me.
Still haven't slept, though feeling pretty worn out
Anyway with that said I got second place. A new phantom
Echo was fun to fly around. Can't wait to get a second.
I Sorry for the discussion. Seen a lot of good points made, but to be on the safe side I made sure to wash my hands in between games. Though I'm feeling better, who knows if I have a big or not.
