*Hype-de* - is Hilde really THAT good?

By MarcoPulleaux, in UFS General Discussion

My biggest concern with Snipe is simply the difficulty. With its symbols, I certainly don't intend on negating anything, I'm just bothered by the 6 difficulty.

But yeah, I think a Good Hilde would be a good run since it can use its counter-meta properties in conjunction with its aggro. Of course, she isn't the only one capable of doing that...

A Good Hilde deck is content with running 16 attacks or perhaps less. Especially since just one attack can kill or severely maim. Thus you have a lot of room to play around with an attack lineup that is basically helping protect Hilde's interests.

Consider Ichi no Tachi, Mark of the Beast, Heel Snipe and Lynx Tail. Obviously Lynx Tail has a better damage output considering only Hilde's Ability, but Ichi/Mark's anti-multiples can help survive any multiple attack without the word Spike in the name, while Ass Arts (I like saying it that way and I'm lazy to type the whole word yet apparently I like long explanations in parenthesis) and Healer protect against, well, both mirror matches and things with Spike in the name. Ichi can commit problem foundations such as Healer/Holding Ground/American Made/Strife's/Tira's, while Amy's can handle Cages, Mysterious Stances and more Ass. Also, in case of counter, Lynx Tail/Dual Wielding and Arrogant and Insolent will re-ready Hilde to give it another shot. Eagle Talon is another good attack because Hilde's E + its E = you draw 1 card for no reason. Well, I seem to like it.

In conclusion, in a true, 100% exact mirror match, coin flip will win most of the time because every answer to Hilde, Hilde can run herself. It's kind of hilarious.

Mirror matches tend to work like that...for everyone.

Not exactly, because not everyone can run answers to their own decks, and answers to their decks don't also happen to be key cards to their decks.

Consider Amy's and Assassination Arts. Or Healers. Amy's is important for her to win, but it's also a counter for Assassination Arts in the mirror match. Healers help live against multiples and in the mirror match, and help kill on your turn. Hilde running Spiritual Center is funny because Spiritual Center is actually a counter to herself.

In short, Lynette's would be a good anti-Hilde in most cases.

Lynette is a good anti-anyone, seriously.

that is kinda the point of the card.

I wouldn't view Lynette's purpose as countering the opponent; I'd view it as giving symbols access to cards they didn't previously have access to. While most symbols are playable at this point, there are still symbols who be hatin' on others for not having what their opponents have.

Lynette's is a godly card against any deck that packs control pieces. Oh, you dropped Chester's? Thanks for +4 life every turn until you can out-control mine. Red Lotus? Now you don't touch my staging area either. BRT? Thanks mate :]. Etc

The card gives every symbol access to cards they didn't previously have... or more copies of cards they already did. In my agonizing bending-over by Kin's Talbain deck in the Rochester regional, I thought I would be smart one turn and drop a Lynette's to copy his (then) only Chester's Backing. A turn or two later, he throws down a Lynette's to copy my Lynette's, and another Chester's while he's at it. A couple turns after that... two more Lynette's hit the field. And those were without a doubt the best choices for his copies; not grabbing my Experienced Combatants, Bigger They Are, Program Malfunction, whatever else I may have had that he didn't have access to, but copying the strongest card in my staging area and using it against me {and making me with I had dropped in my 1x Cathedral Overlook, or Cutting Edge, but ah well ;b).

I don't think it would be overreaching to say that every deck that hits top 8 at anything this season is running a playset of some card that screws over some important piece of the same deck.

I'm totally putting it in one of the decks I build in the near-ish future, though. It is really a powerful card
