An FFG Napoleonic game?

By guest530780, in The Crystal Ball and The Wishing Well

I've read on other sites that FFG has a Napoleonic game in the works, with hints of a big box full of plastic Nappies and Brits.

Has anyone heard anything close to official from an actual FFG source that this is coming down the road? I for one would love to see it, and would hope it makes it out before the Commands And Colors version of Napoleonics (another strongly hinted at up and comer).

I have never heard "Napoleonics" and "FFG" mentioned int eh same breath.

I've heard of this game too. It seems to me that it is being developed by one of the game companies that Fantasy Flight Publishes for here in North America. There are a lot of good things coming down the pipes. It's time to save so we can buy them. :)

Hopefully it will be one of the two epic box sized games that FFG CEO Chris Peterson said at GenCon will be released by end of the year.

Napoleonic game? Yawn. That honestly sounds way too stodgy to be something FFG would ever be working on.

I'm more keen on getting my hands on the soon-to-be-on-shelves Chaos in the Old World game. ::: drool :::

My bets are that you are right! Games I'm looking forward to now are the Battlelore expansions and Gears of War.

Best idea would be if FFG can buy out the rights to an out-of-print Napoleonic game called Napoleon in Europe.

It's one of those games with a huge colorful mapboard, color-coded plastic army pieces (infantry, cavalry, artillery canons, ships, etc). And then FFG simply has to update the rules, and maybe add some nice FFG quality values, and you have a winning game for wargame lovers.

Well, the "Gone Cardboard" section of boardgamenews.com has had a Napoleonic game listed under FFG for several months:

It's called "Battles of Napoleon: The Eagle and the Lion"

Yep, that's the one I had seen. Someone had posted the link at BGG if I recall now.

But now obviously it's not one of the two mystery big box releases, and would be too big to be the smaller box yet to be revealed. I'm on a strict no-new-games budget for the next several months anyway, so I guess I can wait on this...

The game is in partnership with Nexxus. See http://www.nexusgames.com/wotrbon/bon-ordernow.asp. And I quote "Customers in the USA and Canada should reserve their copy of the Battles of Napoleon - The Eagle and the Lion from Fantasy Flight Games".
