Potential Imdaar List - thoughts??

By Papamambo, in X-Wing

I ran this list last weekend against a friend of mine, and it was quite successful -

Carnor Jax - PTL, HU (32)

Royal Guard Pilot - PTL x2 (50)

Howlrunner - (18)

My opponent was running Lorrir, a Bounty Hunter, and Turr with PTL, though I'm unsure of what upgrades he had running with each of his ships, though I seem to remember a Hull Upgrade or 2 on his Interceptors...

We started off maneuvering, and the first round we were in range of each other, his Bounty Hunter fell to focused fire from my ships. After that, we danced around the table, and I have to say I was quite impressed with how these ships fly, as we were in and around asteroids trying to avoid arcs, barrel-rolling and boosting to get into a more advantageous firing position.

I'm looking for some suggestions as to how to make this list better. I liked the high PS of the pilots, as it meant I was shooting first - 8,8,6,6.

I know this list will likely get massacred if facing off against a turret list, so I'm looking for some help to try and finalize it before the weekend..

Really? Nothing? I hate to be one of those guys who has to bump his own thread just to get a response, but seeing as Imdaar starts tomorrow, I was hoping to get some feedback today if possible..

I once faced a similar list, but instead of Howlrunner, she dropped Hulls and Shields on the three ships. It was quite resilient, as the two upgrades kept the Interceptors from being 1-shotted by a lucky roll.

Jax is pretty beast when he gets up close, and it helps the Interceptors stay alive at close range, but only if they don't get put into the ground before they get there.

If you're playing against turrets, I suspect you may have some problems.

Idk about suggestions, but I bet you'll do fine against a falcon list. The high PS shoots before Chewy and you'll shoot before the support ships too. Just gotta Focus + Evade all day!

Id only consider swapping to Backstabber and putting a Targetting Computer on 1 Interceptor. Howlrunner might not always keep up if you boost with the Ints.

I don't find Howlrunner to be a nice addition to PTL Interceptors...

It forces you to keep the interceptors near Howl, making them more predictable. If you go up against a 4 ship rebel build, that can mean you lose 1 or 2 interceptors on the first exchange... Not good.

I have a similar list I will try at Imdaar Alpha in approximately 2.5 hrs

Fel-PTL

Carnor-PTL

Royal Guard-PTL

Dark Curse

I just want to screw with people's heads, when they can't focus within R1 of Jax or spend it to attack Dark Curse (or reroll with TLs on DC) And Fel is just a beast that I enjoy running

I will echo the suggestion to drop Howlrunner for either Backstabber or Dark Curse. Target computer on Jax with the last two points, I guess.

Well, after action report time..

3 rounds - 2 losses and 1 modified win.

First match up was the list I chose above against a mini-swarm with 3 academies and Howl and a Bounty hunter. We initially took out each other's Howlrunner, then I took one of his Academy pilots. In the final round of this match up he took one of my RGP. 30 points taken for me, and 43 for him. Modified win for my opponent :(

2nd match had me paired against 2 Firesprays. Boba Fett (with a boatload of upgrades) and Krassis with a healthy amount of upgrades as well. First round we were in range due to some poor flying on my part, one of my Royal Guards was one shotted after a brush with an asteroid. Howl, Carnor, and the remaining Guard concentrated on Boba. I managed to eliminate him after some interesting cat and mouse games, and then I lost Carnor. We went to time again, but due to the upgrades on Boba I squeaked out a modified by 10 points.

Last match was against a Blue with HLC and opportunist, Ibby with HLC and a couple other upgrades I can't recall, and Wes with some upgrades, the only one of which I can recall was Flechette torpedoes.

Again, bad flying on my part had me hitting an asteroid doing damage to my Royal. He was taken out quite easily. I then lost Howlrunner. I was able to take out Wes, but in doing so left myself wide open to his B's who gave me the old one, two punch and never looked back. Full 100 point loss. Poor flying lost me the match and I wasn't able to recover unfortunately.

Lesson learned though. I really need to practice the art of flanking and taking the perfect shot when I am not exposed. One more Imdaar event next weekend, so I'll try again. .
