being the blaster turrets are secondary weapons, doesn't that mean that they get no benefit from range 1? And they cannot fire at range 3. So I am curious why they would do so well? They are really not that tough. Not as tough as a y wing or b wing total health wise.
Happy Friday and good luck with Imdaar peoples
I'm in for an event in a couple of weeks. Which is handy cause I've played exactly 2 100pt games so far! ![]()

They're not. =P
We're joking.
Technically, I think that's the only way you can get five three-attack ships into a 100-point list. Who knows? It may be awesome!
5xAlpha Squadron pilots is 90 points ![]()
Upgrade one to Turr Phennir + PtL for 100 ?
Switch out 1 for OGP + HLC, OGP + Vader + Engine ?
Switch out 3 for 3 OGPs ?
Endless possibilities ![]()

OK, OK, I was wrong, I've been shamed.
I'm clearly in a very Rebel mindset lately.

Together we can rule the galaxy as father and son. Let us Crush these rebel scum.
My first tourney. Nervous and excited. Ready to let the ships fly and the die decide.
And I expect my LGS to have a large turn out. And another forum member here that is a master list builder and can fly shuttles around ya. Not expecting to win this thing. Just have fun.
Good luck y'all
This is a big one to be your first, but you have the right attitude. the most important thing is to have a good time. Best of luck................... unless you're going to be at one that I'm going to be at
Maybe...are you the mysterious shuttle flyer? And it was either this or regionals for my first tourney. I think I chose wisely. I didn't have a fleet nor the knowledge to compete in the store championship round. After that it's 1 solid month of flying and practicing for regionals, then worlds......
Haven't even playtested my squad or flown for about 2-3 weeks lol . . . still not even sure if I am going to make it to the local tourney, but we'll see!! It will be an adventure either way.
In Australia had the 1st Friday night event already. Pulled 1st place with 4 wins and came away with a Defender my fav ship from the old TIE Fighter video game days
going to Saturday and Sunday tourneys as well.
Nicely done what did you run?
Wes + VI
Wedge + Opportunist + R2
Luke + Opportunist + R2-D2
was reading the discussion about Wes and thought it worth a try. Only Lost one ship all night, another Wedge with initiative took out my Wedge before I returned the favour.
R2-D2 is always a lot of cheese
Depend, if you battle against him, it's a pain, but it you battle with him is a pice of victory, greettings.
Well, looks likeI won't being attending an event this weekend. The LGS didn't get their ships. :*(

That stinks
Went 3 and 1 with The Herd. (4x OGP with APL + FCS). Got 4th overall and ended up with my most wanted choice. TIE Defender.
Cheers
I had a terrible first game. I only landed two hits against an x-wing list! BAH!
Lots of fun. Only managed 1 win and two losses.
I shamelessly stole Paul Heaver's list.
Biggs
Dagger w/AS
Dagger w/AS
Rookie
Round 1
Vader w/Marksmanship, Assault Missle
Carnor Jax w/Something
Soontir Fell w/Something
I let Vader blast Biggs hitting everyone with a missle. the whole squad made Jax pay the ultimate price for that hit. After that Vader bumped my rookie setting him up to get blasted by two focused daggers and a focused biggs. After that it was still 4 ships to one. Academic.
Total Wipeout. I lost nothing.
Round 2
Krassis w/HLC, Assault Missle, some other stuff
Howlrunner w/Stealth
Obsidian?
Academy Pilot
Again, on my advance I let the assault missle blast my squad. Sure it hurts but it would be worse to break formation. Obisdian died for the trouble. Next round the academy bumped my rook but howlrunner wound up in a bad spot where everyone could shoot her....luckily Krassis barely touched an asteroid. Howlrunner dies this turn. Next turn I orchestrated my moves so if Krassis went where I thought he would he wouldnt move of the asteroid after my maneuvers. I guessed correctly and was able to take out the Academy. Again...it wound up being 4 ships to the Firespray....and it's aspect was such that the HLC never got shot since it only took rear shots at me while running away. My opponent miscalculates subsequent turn moves and winds up going off the board.
Total wipout...no losses.
Round 3
Howlrunner w/stealth
Black squadron with Draw Fire
Obsidian
4 Academy Ties
My opponent streaks forward with all fighters to attempt to avoid densest part of the asteroid feild. I did not oblige. 4 turns pass as I cruise across the board to the other side of the asteroids He commits early forcing his hand AND forcing him to deal with a massive asteroid feild that I had planned for him asteroid collisions and obscurement hinder him the whole game. I turn and maintain perfect formation with my squad. First two rounds of proper engagement see me taking out two tie fighters and ranges 1 & 2 while his if forced to shoot at biggs at range 3 thru asteroids with regular Ties. By the time I finally lose biggs, he loses Howlrunner. At that point it is mop up. Time is called after another Tie fighter drops and I still get a total victory despite not wiping him out.
Round 4
Dual Falcon
Lando w/Expert Handling, Gunner, Numb
Chewie w/Expert Handling, Gunner
Again, I force him thru properly placed (for me) asteroids and they do their work. Lando lands on some asteroids on the turn of engagement. Lando is the first to drop as I barrel roll and do turns and banks with the daggers and do full move K turns with the x wings in order to maintain a full feild of fire in all directions so dodging me totally is hard....plus I'm blocking up the lanes where he wants to go. It takes time but I burn down Lando but lose biggs early. I lose another Dagger over time but shortly after the Dagger goes down, Chewie get's his as I refuse to let the Wookie Win.
Another Wipeout for me...this time 100 pts to his 52.
At this point there is a clear pecking order for placements. As the tourney is running long and it's 1am, everyone agrees to pick and go.
My Rebels capture Imperial Technology in the form of a shiny new Tie Defender. I sort of wanted the Headhunter but that ship seems to be the last one to want to be picked...I instead chose the Defender b/c it seems to be the very favorite pick. Better to grab it now....and just get a Headhunter if I can get lucky on Sunday as well.
I've never played this list before as I'm typically a Y-Wing or Falcon player. However...I prepared myself by studying up on Paul's Turn Zero tips and even watching how he flies in the Youtube replays of his Championship games. I found myself well prepared and I doubt anyone could tell that this was my first time ever flying this force. One thing I learned...JEEZ this squad is powerful! B-Wings LOL at bumps and K-Turns getting their actions every time....constantly focused. My maneuvering was totally on point as well (even though sometimes I took a little time to plan maneuvers) I never once hit an asteroid and rarely bumped in a manner that hurt me....most of the time it was planned.
The Firepower, resilance, and ease of taking actions make this Squad probably the most powerful squad I've ever played. Rebel Convoy used to be my favorite....I think this is it now. Such a good squad.
Edited by DeadshaneJust got back from my first Imdaar event of the weekend at Ronin Games in Castro Valley Ca. We had 16 players in attendance. I ran Garven, Dutch and 2 Rookies, all with R2s and an Ion Turret on Dutch.
Game one was against a relatively new player running Boba Fett with stuff, Jax with Hull and Shield upgrades and Mithel with VI. End result was me losing Dutch and a Rookie and clearing the board of the enemy.
Game two was against the player I met and lost to in the Regionals at KublaCon in game 6. He was running Chewie with Intel Agent, Gunner and Expert Handling and 2 Blues with Advanced Sensors. Sensing a chance for revenge, I went after the Fuzzball on the initial pass, stripping shields. As the game progressed it ended up an undamaged Garven going head to head with Chewie with 6 hull left. Garven was able to land 4 hits on the Wookie with receiving only 1 in return. Next turn Garven K-Turned behind Chewie and finished him off for the win.
Game three was against the eventual winner. He was running Krassis with HLC, Rebel Captive and something else, Howlrunner and 3 Academy Pilots. It was looking good when I landed the lose pilot ability crit on Howlrunner with my first shot before any of his pilots could use it. Unfortunately the game went quickly downhill from there. My dice went ice cold and I could only manage to kill one AP before losing my last ship.
So we moved on to the 4th and final round with the top 2 players playing with the new ships and the rest of those at 2-1 were paired off to see who would win a ship. My final opponent ran 2 Bounty Hunters with Recon Spec and Seismics and 2 Academy Pilots. The game ended up with Dutch killing the last BH with a shot from his Ion turret while a shieldless Rookie sitting on an asteroid looked on.
Once the games were over and the scores totaled, thanks to strength of schedule and much to my surprise, I managed to take second place, duplicating my Kessel Run performance and winning the E-Wing and $30 in store credit (which I spent on my 4th B-Wing and 5th Bomber).
All in all I had a good time even though I hadn't planned on playing due to being tired from a long day at work. The TOs convinced me to join in and boy am I glad I listened. Up next is Game Kastle in Santa Clara Ca. on Saturday, followed by Game Kastle in Fremont Ca. on Sunday.
Edited by zathras23For you Saturday folk, may the force be with you!.....but just a little more with me =)
I still have no idea what I'm going to run tonight. Probably something Rebel, but I don't want to run the exact same squad I had when I won a Store Championship and went to Regionals. I just feel like I should use something different.
HWK Rebel Operative (16pts) Blaster Turret (4pts)
HWK Rebel Operative (16pts) Blaster Turret (4pts)
HWK Rebel Operative (16pts) Blaster Turret (4pts)
HWK Rebel Operative (16pts) Blaster Turret (4pts)
HWK Rebel Operative (16pts) Blaster Turret (4pts)
It always bothered me that only the HWK comes with a blaster turret. Why didn't the Y-wing? I love the HWK, but just don't think I need more than two of them...
Because they hadn't invented the card then.
I took second place and walked away with the TIE Phantom. It was a really hard choice between that and the Defender. The guy who took first place snagged the Z-95.
I ran OGP with gunner and FCS and a swarm of 6 academy TIEs.
First round was against 2 daggers, one of them with FCS, 1 red and biggs. He took out my lambda and I took out biggs, red and one dagger before time was called.
1-0
Second round was against luke with swarm tactics, two rookies and roark with ion. I felt bad for his list as his points were all spent to up his PS but all my ships shot after him anyway, so a lot of wasted points for him. He took out two TIEs and I took out Luke and the other two rookies before time was called.
2-0
Third round was against Chewie's falcon (can't remember the upgrades), biggs and a dagger. I was fearing this build simply because of the YT but the encounter was smooth as butter. I lost one TIE to an asteroid (he damaged it for two and the final hit was the asteroid pass). I took out his squad fairly quickly. Wonderful player, it was fun chatting with him.
3-0
Final table was me and a guy who ran dual falcons, not sure of the build. He was in first place and chose to fly rebels, which worked out perfectly for me as I was planning on flying empire. We opened them up and built our squads.
I ran Rexler with predator, Echo with stygium, and OGP with gunner. He ran a bandit and knave alongside Han's falcon with gunner, c-3po, and a few other upgrades. I wish I could say I beat Han, but that re-roll turret is a killer. He took first and I placed second.
In hind sight I should have looked over to see he was using Han and assembled a squadron accordingly. I came into the game with a final build in mind and he had a couple players pushing him to use a YT to counter the crazy antics of the Phantom, which worked perfectly. I got a few damage cards through his shields, but not enough. Stupid me not focusing fire.
Tons of fun and he totally deserved first place. Good luck to others playing on Saturday!

Just got back from my event. Came in second place though I was one hit point away from the clean sweep, but no complaints because I got the TIE Defender I wanted anyway.
First was a TIE swarm (7 ties with howlrunner, didn't catch which upgrades were in there)
Second was me (Lambda with Vader and AS, Howlrunner with Determination, and three Alpha Squadron interceptors)
Third was triple X-wing (Wedge with Expert Handling, R2 unit, and Shield Upgrade, Luke with Draw Their Fire and R2-D2, and Biggs with R2-F2 and a Stealth Device)
Fourth was TIE swarm (Howlrunner, Winged Gundark, Night Beast, Backstabber, 3x Academy Pilot)
I tabled the third place finisher and the fifth place finisher (Chewie with Hull Upgrade and DTF and Lando with EH, Gunner, Recon Specialist) in rounds 1 and 3, extremely quickly. I got ground down by the 4th place TIE swarm with a sad final run where I couldn't roll any Evades on 5 dice (followed by all blanks on 4 dice!) for the win. Had a total blast though, and I can't wait to play this list again soon.
