I've tried searching for an answer to this one (it may be such a simple answer that nobody thought to post the question before) but this was a scenario that happened at my LGS yesterday on the table next to me:
Player 1 has Biggs, Tarn, and some other ships.
Player 2 has a swarm of TIE's.
Player 2, with Howlrunner, (forgetting Biggs was a thing) declared Tarn to be the target of attack. Player 1 rightly said that Biggs had to be target of the attack as per Biggs pilot ability. Player 1 reads the card, acknowledges his mistake, but points out that he still could declare Tarn as the target and thus trigger his pilot ability.
It was a friendly, and I believe they ruled it that Tarn got his free lock (they were giddy to try him out, lol!)
Was this correct? Can Tarn be declared as a target, only to have it switched to Biggs (like the sponge that he is), or must Biggs be the only declare-able target?
