A good list for kids to play?

Hello All,

I have a 9 year old who loves Star Wars and loves X-Wing and this weekend he wants to participate in the Imdaar Alpha event with me. I was wondering what lists you might recommend for children to play? And is having a child at an event ever been a problem? He has grown up with most of the guys there so I do not think it will be an issue.

I tried with something that wasn't too fancy, didn't have a lot of rules to confuse him, and was pretty easy to fly.

Here is his list:

Outer Rim Smuggler

Outer Rim Smuggler

Blue Squadron Pilot

Dagger Squadron Pilot

This gives him a boat load of hit point to work with, the ORS's allow him to make small flying mistakes and still get shots off, and the B-Wings pack a punch.

It would probably do well, another potential list is the ever so popular Han Shoots First build (HSF) I had my brother fly it against me in his first full size (100pt) game, his second game ever against a 4 interceptor build I was trying (my build worked against some other people)

The HSF usually refers to

Han-Marksmanship, Chewbacca, Gunner

3 ships plays fast, Han is almost always putting damage out when he shoots so your son shouldn't get bored midgame (a problem I admit I have when the dice seem to greatly favor my opponent, or in the latter rounds of a tournament), I assume you already have the models for your other list, (if you didn't this one build would be cheaper $ wise)

As far as having him at the event goes, I don't think people will complain as long as he knows the rules, plays at a reasonable pace, and behaves himself(no throwing dice/models/whining if something doesn't go his way, I know probably shouldn't need to be said but I have played my share of adults older than myself that sometimes don't behave themselves, mostly for 40k though not X-wing)

Thanks Gundog, I might have him try that one out tonight. I was just worried with Han having the possibility of 4 rolls it might confuse him. But I could be wrong.

And on the model count/money end of it... I own everything, and I I am working on my 'at least two of everything' list right now. That Tantive IV will be a hard pill to swallow so I might just have the one, but I plan on a minimum of two of everything and I am really close to that.
