Preparing to run Beyond the Rim: Questions

By Yepesnopes, in Game Masters

Hi all,

I need some knowledge of those of you who knows the Star Wars setting :)

1) I have no knowledge of the Wheel, besides that given in the adventure book. Which is the "etiquette" code in the Wheel? Is it normal / allowed that PCs (and NPCs) walk around in armour (like padded armour) and carrying heavy weaponry (like a blaster rifle or a heavy blaster rifle)? What has Master-com to say about it?

2) The profiles presented in page 26 for the ISB agents seems way too weak to me, for example as compared to the Imperial Intelligence Agent appearing in the Core book pg 402 - 403. Is it something related to SW cannon? Are the guys working for ISB less prepared than those working for I.I.? If this is not the case, I think I will use the stats for the I.I. agents to represent the ISB agents and add two or three skill ranks here and there for Cal Alsen.

So far that is it, more will come for sure :P

Thanks in advance,

Yepes

All I know about the Wheel is from the Star Wars Legacy comics (Cade Skywalker) and weapons were strictly regulated but I recall from the book you mentioned that the Empire in this period tries to make it look like they're honouring that agreement.

Consider plausible deniability as their means of reacting to events on the Wheel the one noted exception being when Princess Leia and Luke were noticed if the books mention of an old Marvel Star Wars story is accurate.

Be an ideal time to introduce either suitable recurring NPCs or a new adversary of your own design perhaps a liasion with the Wheel leadership in case you plan on reusing the Wheel in your games.

I have finished reading the part dealing with the Wheel and I have observed that all NPCs set in the Wheel (Reom, Yiyar Clan, ISB agents, Wheel security...) carry only Blaster Pistols sized weapons. I think it may be safely assumed that in the Wheel, big weapons like Blaster Carbines, Rifles and the like are heavily regulated.

I think I will proceed like this in my game. Not sure what to do about armours like padded armour though

If you want to see an example of the day-to-day operations on the wheel, check out issues 18 to 23 of the old marvel comics run. It's a pretty good story and gives you a rough idea of how the station operated.
