List feedback request: BBB

By MrGloverGlover, in X-Wing

Hi all,

I've played the following list only twice, but for the first time since playing this game (four or five months) it just seemed to click for me. Everything seemed to work out just nicely. I need to play test it against a variety of lists, but I'd like some open comments regarding it, please.

B-Wing: Ibtisam

-Push the Limit

-Advanced Sensors

-Engine Upgrade

B-Wing: Dagger Squadron

-Advanced Sensors

100pts

I initially built it on a whim as I sat down to a table to play and just fancied something different, but as I mentioned earlier, it seemed to work for my own style. The engine upgrades, whilst very expensive, saved a couple of my ships from multiple range-1 attacks in both games which would've been their doom. With boost, barrel roll AND advanced sensors, the maneuverability seemed perfect. It seemed very easy to fly out of fire arcs.

My only real concern is running only three ships, vs the four minimum that I saw all but one other player using at our local regional.

A two ship list (loaded up YT and beefed Ibby) took out a YYXXB rebel list on Vassal.

Wedge, Luke, Biggs with all 3 loaded up took 2nd at a large tournament (I think it was the May 4th tournament at FFG).

My tournament advice to you:

Fly what you know how to fly

Be sure of your maneuver, don't chance it.

Fly casual

Man, I love this list, I have played almost the exact same thing myself.

What I can tell you from experience, however, is that very minor piloting errors are horrendously magnified when you only have three ships.

AKA - A three ship list is not forgiving at all. If you mess up, and they exploit it, assuming they are running a 4-5-6-7 ship list, you are going to be in dire straits without an epic level performance.

I absolutely love B-Wings, the are my favorite ships, and I'm considering running Dagger x4 at Imdaar Alpha just because I like the ships so much.

Anyways, I would be careful with three ship lists unless you are supremely confident you can outfly your opponent.

This has always been my favorite triple B List:

Hypermobile B-Wings are a Go!

I'm gonna assume you practice a LOT with it, 'cause this list takes a LOT of skill on the part of the player to use properly, because you have so many decisions to make.

Also, I prefer Daredevil over boosting+barrel rolling on Ibtisam. The trick to PTL is to make sure she can do one of those, and still get an offensive action.

Honestly? I've only played two games with this list itself, but I have the itch to playtest it a lot more. We've got a pretty good little group so I want to test it vs X-Wing spam, against a Falcon list, a Firespray list and a swarm. Only then will I really know whether it's viable or not or suppose.

On the virtue of the two games I played so far though (Both against a Wes, Green, Green, Gold opportunist list), it's the most fun I've had playing so far.
