Bombers + Interceptors

I'm going to buy my second bomber tomorrow and I've been thinking about combining bombers with interceptors as those are my two favourite ships but nothing seems to work. Do you guys have any ideas?

Also any builds with two bombers (not necessarily with interceptors) would be appreciated. :)

I considered the following list for a while, tried it once and won so it went ok.

  • Soontir + PtL
  • Bounty Hunter
  • 2x Scimitar
  • 95 points

So you've got 5 points for upgrades. Gunner on BH? Seismic Charges on the Scimitars?

I use bombers in place of Ties when I want to swarm:

Bombers shouldn't carry ordinance, IMHO, but if you get good with Siesmic Charges then that is ok. Rhymer and Jonus work well together as long as you don't put too much into them, try to leave enough room for 4 x Academies.

Rhymer with Opportunist and Cluster Missiles along with Jonus and Veterans Instincts (if you use Jonus as the catalyst for Rhymer's Opportunist). Then some of the Alpha Interceptors or a couple Royal Guards with Push the Limit, if you have the points, otherwise just one RG w/PtL and Backstabber or something.

Jonus with no ordnance himself, (maybe a bomb) an the other bomber with proton torps and cluser missiles. (Actually I like to have at least 2 other bombers flying with jonus)

I also like to give Jonus Squad Leader so he can give a TL to a near by bomber at a higher PS.

If you only have 2 bombers, try throwing Vader in with some cluster missiles.

Remember Jonus's ability works on both shots from the cluster missiles.

Right off the bat, I see that Bombers and Interceptors fit the same price-range, so you could easily go with 2 of each, or possibly 3 of one and 2 of another.

A joint fleet could work very well. The Stilletto and the Truncheon, working together.

2x Gamma Squadron Pilot + Homing Missiles + Seismic Charges

2x Royal Guard Pilot + Push the Limit

Once Ion Pulse Missiles are out I'll swap them with Homing Missiles and perhaps add Flechette Torpedoes.

List I'm taking to Imdaar this week is two elite interceptors as flankers and two cheap bombers with seismics. The interceptors are agile enough to fade if the enemy comes at them in force, leaving the bombers free to get in close and block/bomb while the Ints make a second pass. Only played it once, though. The bombers are tough enough to survive one round of shooting in order to muck up formations if the event guess after them.

Homing Missiles? Really? At least go with Assaults.

Better yet would be to go with Proton Bombs and either Flechette Torpedoes (knock 'em into the Bombs) or Targeting Computers.

I was thinking 3 bombers with seismics

and an alpha and a PTL saber

I posted this a few times now but I've had really good results from this list:

Soontir Fel w/ PtL and Stealth

Mauler w/ Squad Leader

Scimitar w/ Assault Missiles & Seismic Charge x2

98 pts (I choose who gets initiative).

I originally had Gammas and no stealth device but I find the meta in my area is 5-7 PS so I downgraded them.

It is really tempting to drop stealth and change a SC to a Prox Mine. I love dropping those puppies in before someone moves but I find your not in a good position to shoot that round when you do it.

But I've managed to beat Dual Falcons, Swarms of any kind, Biggs walks the Dogs, Bloody Daggers, Han shoots first.

The scariest thing is a Vader shuttle targeting Fel...

This sounds like something I would play. I like my generic pilots to be kitted out the same. Replacing Homing Missiles with Ion + Flechette sounds fun, since you can have each Bomber fire a different weapon on the same target, and give an enemy vessel both an ion and a stress token in the same turn (twice in one game). Good? Maybe not. Fun? Sounds like it to me!

To be honest I like having some way of modifying my dice and without Jonus Homing Missiles are the best IMO, plus I play against rebels mostly and AM ain't that good against them.
