An interesting MathWing puzzle

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

Lets say that I have a theoretical upgrade on Han Solo that lets me equip substantially more crew members at the cost of my Perform Actions step in the Activation phase.

How difficult would it be to kill him, if he has C-3P0, R2-D2, Chewbacca, and a Flight Instructor?

  1. Once per game he can discard Chewbacca to discard an incoming face-up damage card, and regenerate a shield.
  2. Once per round he can predict the number of evade results he rolls, for a free evade result.
  3. Once per round, if he has no shields, he can regenerate one shield, with a risk of turning a face-down card face-up.
  4. Once per attack, he can re-roll an Eyeball result (or a Blank result if his attacker is PS 2 or lower)
  5. BUT he gets no actions during the Perform Action step of the Activation phase.

How difficult would it be to kill him, if he has C-3P0, R2-D2, Chewbacca, and a Flight Instructor?

I'm going to go with "very difficult". It's not a math-wing answer, but since it's a hypothetical anyway... (c:

Actually he won't be that difficult to kill at all. All of these upgrades improve the defence of the falcon but at anything below range three, he is ignoring one point of damage from each attack, maybe two at best using C-3PO. However if you're attacking with high attack ships at range 1 then most of the hits will still be slipping past the defenses. Heck if you're facing Biggs and Wedge then you're really in trouble. And all of this defence is coming at a cost of no gunner which makes the Falcon's own attacks less reliable. Far less reliable since you can't use Focus or Target Lock to enhance your damage output. Put simply I think you would that most lists would still kill you faster than you would them.

Well, ignoring crits for now, what we get is the following.

Base 15 health.

We absorb 2 damage/ round automatically.(1 from C3PO, and once he's lost his shields, another one from R2D2.)

We'll take a 4 ship group with 3 attack a piece. With focus they deal 9 damage per round.

Round 1, take 9-1 for C3PO-1.5 for other evades, assuming they are all PS 2. That gives 6.5 damage. Every round thereafter does 5.5 damage.

He lives for 3 rounds of focus fire, Crits excluded. That's not bad. Granted it's a

60+ point ship and C3PO + Chewie,+The Falcon title +PTL ignores nearly as much damage... But hey... Interesting puzzle.

Is the flight instructor really Leia in disguise?
