Instead of the pamphlet sized rules with loose leafs as expansions with models are we going to get a true sized rule book. IE Full expanded and comprehensive rules. Or is the the maximum throw of this game. Cause i could wholeheartedly get behind such an endeavor.
Larger scale rulebook
I would love this. My rules are all over the darn place. A centralized book would help, especially with the new playstyles.
I'd love that, however... Such a book could happen when they decide to make the Second/Revised Edition box eventually. Until then there's not much audience for such a product plus the next big release would make it obsolete as it will add yet another leaflet.
The rules in this game are so scattered. =/
You have to look everywhere for things. And even then, the legalese isn't quite fully realized so there is still some amount of interpretation. (Which is why I keep asking on here).
Would also be nice to just get things errata'd/reworded to be consistent. Things like "attack".
Also the thing where it says the TO has the power to override/interpret the FAQ is just silly. And judge support?
LoL, I was able to print the pdf as full pages, double sided, and in protective sleeves no less :
Edited by XAQT78I would agree that the most likely place for something like this would be in a new core set. The only other way that I could image that they would do it would be to perhaps include an updated rule book with a future huge ship expansion. I just cannot imagine them selling one on its own.
Once rebel aces is out, I'm planning on scanning in everything, adding the tournament rules, epic rules, and my own campaigns and having it printed. Knowing my luck, 2nd Ed will come out a week later...
I believe that when all the models are done, i think like 36 models all in all or something, then they'll consider making a big book. Thats just what i think.

Just 36, im sure there's a whole bunch more especially since they are delving into the EU.
Throw the PDFs on a thumb drive, take them over to your local office supply store, and get them printed and bound into one neat little book.

A nice thought, but i was hoping on an expanded set also. The game could easily be expanded
I've taken all the text from the pdfs, pasted them into a word document, added in the FAQs, missions and card extras, cleaned it all up and added in the symbols (hits, crits, etc). I printed out two copies and have one binder for each faction with a complete set of rules, FAQs, and missions along with card pages with all of the pilot cards for that faction.
Just a little OCD about this game.

We could always have an $80 core rulebook too...

$140AUD for those on the other lower side of the pond...

$85. That gets replaced after 2 years. And doesn't fix the problems.

GW marketing strategy - here we come!
I actually don't see the problem. The rulebook is only 28 pages, the FAQ is 11 and includes all the large ship bits, and the huge ship rules is only 4 pages. I printed the FAQ and stapled it. It fits in my box with my rulebook - 2 documents - easy. If you want a hard cover edition with gilt edging, expect the price to go through the roof, somewhat like GW.
From a marketing point, the current book has been designed to fit in the core set box. If you change the size, or hard bind it, they would have to adjust the packaging in the core set, and then recoup those costs, thus driving the price up. Do we want our hobby getting more expensive? HELL NO!!
I doubt we will see a rulebook available for sale as a single item, FFG want it to remain with the core set so when you but it you've got a stand alone game in a box, unlike some other games. I like to see an updated rulebook including all the errata available as a pdf on their support page. That would be helpful.
A free, downloadable PDF would be perfect if they ever do this.
It just needs to be a constant updated rulebook with better legal jargon. A lot of things are too ambiguous.
A combined PDF rulebook available on the web site would be great. They are already giving the PDF of the rules for free, just go that one step further FFG and put it all into one document!
