Wave 4 and Maneuverability.

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

I've noticed something: Wave 4 is ridiculously mobile.

On the E-Wing card that I saw on these forums (Not actually included in the E-Wing spoiler, so it might be a fake), it's officially the first ship in the game with both a 5 forward and a 1 forward option.

On the Defender's dial (included in the spoiler), not only is it the first ship in the game with a White Koiogran, but it's also the first ship in the game with all 12 turn and bank bearings, which might even be more powerful (particularly if you give it an Adrenaline Rush).

On the Phantom, we don't know it's dial, but the fact that it has Barrel Roll AND the incredible maneuverability brought by a pre-maneuver decloak AND the ability to equip Advanced Sensors.... This thing doesn't so much have a location as a probability cloud. Coupled with 4 attack, and it will clearly be a force to reckon with.

On the Z-95... It's about average. No firsts for maneuverability, but it gives the Rebels a swarm-option, which is kinda similar. No need for 1 ship to go everywhere if there's already a ship there, eh?

On the Phantom, we don't know it's dial ...

You don't?

Yeah agreed.

Also, I think the Rebel ships tend to get wayyy too forgiving movement dials.

Falcon? Really? Basically no Reds ever??

Firespray is less forgiving because only the 2 arcs.

The E-wing too. Its a powerful ship already combined with basically an awesome dial and no red turns. What gives?

The defender is agile, yes, but only when supported. IMO, its dial paid too much for the white Koiogran.

The need for support raises its 'real' effective cost, which may further discourage its usage on standard tournament format, since imperials, unlike rebels, have weak support options.

The E-wing, Phantom and Defender's dials are reflected in their point costs. This wave seems to be all about elite dog fighters (and the Z-95). I'm happy with this. My favorite aspect of the game is the maneuvering and dog fighting, not "crash a block of ships into each other" or "Fly ships with turrets in circles"

Next wave will probably see the YT-2400 (which is STILL canon since it was shown in ep4) and some other stuff that will be less maneuverable.

This wave seems to be all about elite dog fighters (and the Z-95).

And then i nearly shot pop out my nose.

The one thing that Rebel players will have to watch out for is that the green banks on the E-Wing and the z95 are the 2 banks, not the 1 banks as the X, B, HWK & YT are.

Currently the Bomber is the only existing ship that has this quirk on it's dial, but I am used to it as I fly bombers more than usual, but it will be interesting to see people flying Z’s & E’s and hear them curse under their breathe as they intended to do a 1 bank after a K-turn and realise it won’t remove the Stress

I think R2 astromech is almost an auto-include on an E-wing unless you are going for some other specific astromech combo.

and at 27 pts for a base E-wing really whats one more :)

1) On the E-Wing card that I saw on these forums (Not actually included in the E-Wing spoiler, so it might be a fake), it's officially the first ship in the game with both a 5 forward and a 1 forward option.

1) I LOVE the E-Wing's dial. Hadn't really thought about being the first 1 and 5, though, but I'm sure it'll come in handy.

2) That's a good point about the Defender dial as well. Like most people I think, I'm not too excited about it, though, aside from the obvious white K-turn.

3) The Phantom's dial (as shown above) is slightly sub-par, I think, but I also believe De-cloaking will more than make up for that.

4) Actually, is it just me, or is the Z95 dial better than the X-Wing's? The greens get pushed forward and it gets a shorter K-turn (which may or may not be more useful).

Agreed! That's also why I'm staying away from Epic.

The one thing that Rebel players will have to watch out for is that the green banks on the E-Wing and the z95 are the 2 banks, not the 1 banks as the X, B, HWK & YT are.

I've often found myself wishing X-Wings had 2 Bank greens, so I'm looking forward to these dials!

This is why i think it's a worse dial. You k turn and want to bank out of it? Your very close to where you entered the k turn, even the 1 straight is prett far in, as it is like the x wing followed by a 2 straight. You don't get much space to work with on the k turn. Which pushes combat I turns into the range 1 bubble, which is not a good trade v.s the more agile ties
