I know there are some that are modding their's to collapse, but I really did want to go that route. So I started looking and found this.
it is the perfect length and is sturdy enough to keep it safe. All for under $10.

I just only attached one of the two fasteners. Now I can fold it. If I need more stability, I can put in half of the other fastener and remove it when I'm done. But I'm a simple sheep.
I'll eventually buy an acrylic one from Applied Perspective once he's ready to sell one. I don't see a need to invest in a tube to protect the cardboard, especially when you can just fold it using one peg rather than two, as Sable described.
$10 just to store a range ruler? Nahhh, I'll pass - go for it if you think it's worth it.
Is it wide enough for the movement templates?

Glue magnets in the empty hole instead. That way when you fold it out the magnets hold it straight for you. That's what I'm thinking of doing.
Rather vaild points, but I'd rather have it stock and not movable, which will wear it. Modding it with magnets would make it unusable in tournaments. As well as a 3rd party acrylic which can't be used in a tournament unless your opponent oks it. If I was planning on just playing friendly non competitive games then modding it or a 3rd party would be great.
Edited by Bjorn RockfistI have never seen any problems with using third party templates in tournaments. Are you expecting to attend a lot of Epic tournaments, anyways?
Yeah, I'll second the fact that I've never had anyone take issue with me using 3rd party acrylics, even at FFG Regionals or Worlds.
We buy this type of clear tubing in 12 foot lengths for parts that we make. I may need to go over to that department and see what diameters we have.
It's actually 100% legal to use 3rd party templates at tourneys. It says so in the rules. However, if someone objects, you can both choose to use one set or another. And if you can't decide, then the TO can decide for you.
Good call on that magnet idea... I'm now thinking that I'll put magnets in mine as well. I have to decide if I can accurately do it with putting it in both, of if it'd be too difficult to make it precise, and thus I should put one pin in.
