C-3PO crew card

By Imwookie2, in X-Wing

Only once per round, but still a great ability. Also, I love its passive nature. As others here have noted, it works when you get blocked, and stacks nicely with any actions you might have taken in a given round.

Chewie gets even harder to take down :)

I dunno, I think automatically being able to shave a point of damage off of every singe hit you will ever receive could be called "reliable". Especially for a ship that has what? Thirteen hit points?

As pointed out, it only works once per round. It also isn't guaranteed to reduce damage even if it's used, even on a ship with only 1 Agility. If you call zero, you're guaranteed to get one evade at the end - but that may be the result you rolled anyway. So even if you take that approach, you're going to get an extra evade about 60% of rounds.

Also it makes dual falcon builds that much harder to kill. Falcon Title on one ship, C-3PO on the second - each of them get a sure-fire evade each turn.

Yes, I'm aware as numerous people have pointed out. I'm also aware of its utility, since that was literally the very first thing to pop into my mind the moment i first read the card.

Han Solo with C-3P0, Luke, and Falcon title could be great. Every turn you take an evade action (target lock is covered by Han and focus is covered by Luke), then you are guaranteed 2 evades every turn.

But it's not doing that. It's one hit PER ROUND, actually encouraging the enemy to focus fire on threepio's ship (or ignore it entirely) to minimize the effect he will have.

I'm trying to picture 3PO in a Bwing during a dogfight or bombing run with a pilot who isn't used to him.

Well, you see. The B-Wing will be flying very erratically because the pilot will be constantly twisting around in his seat trying to hit Threepio.

He's probably going to be a bit meh on the B-Wing, but pretty good on the Falcon. He would be amazing on a Firespray but alas, Rebel only.

His usage on a HWK would probably be less. You have the extra evade dice but with only five hit points, he may only get to be used once or twice.

Yea any named falcon with 3po, gunner, and mf title will be really hard to take down in the end game since that's 2 cancelled hits per round at least. Gonna make dual falcon builds even more annoying.

Will C-3POs ability still work if he's being dragged behind the B-Wing on a cable?

I'd love to know the discussion at FFG behind choosing this particular skill for C-3PO. I mean it's a handy skill, but every time we've seen him in a combat situation, he's waving his arms around panicking. It's not like he's advising pilots on how to evade incoming fighters at all, unless one of his 6 million forms of communication translates " we're doomed! " into " Try jinking to the left a bit! "

It probably had something to do with "The Odds"

"Sir, the odds of successfully guessing the numbers of evades you'll roll is approximately 3,720 to 1!"

C-3PO: Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1.

C-3PO: The odds of successfully surviving an attack on an Imperial Star Destroyer are approximately...

C-3PO: Sir. Sir, I've isolated the reverse, power flux coupling.

"Sir, the odds of FFG making an ISD for Epic play is approximately [content redacted]."
