Tourney List

By ShadowJester2, in X-Wing

Hey all,

I've reached a quandary: I need a list for Imdaar Alpha that stands to be a contender for the tournament, and it needs to be just a little easier to fly in a six round tournament than my standard list. My previous list is:

  • Turr Phennir + PTL (28)
  • Saber Squadron Pilot + PTL (24)
  • Saber Squadron Pilot + PTL (24)
  • Saber Squadron Pilot + PTL (24)

which is an awesome list (could be more awesome with 4x RGP + PTL, but I only have one box of Imperial Aces) that I love, but it requires no mistakes to succeed. Unfortunately, I'm human and after about game 4 or so in a 6 game tournament I start getting tired and make mistakes.

I've been toying with a list\\ that I like, I'm just looking for some critique/criticism and to see if there's anything I haven't considered as a potential weakness in it. It's going to have some issues with turret/control lists, but what Imperial list doesn't have issues with those...

  • Kath Scarlet + Rebel Captive + Expert Handling (43)
  • RGP + PTL + Hull Upgrade (28)
  • RGP + PTL + Hull Upgrade (28)

The idea is to flank with all three ships, with Kath on the inside and the fragile RGPs on the outside edge. When the RGPs are in range, they're to turtle up with Focus+Evade, and hope they can clip their targets from R3. Once the primary threats are down (Falcons, Firesprays, turretted HWKs and Y-Wings), I'd then start putting on extreme pressure with the TIE/Is, with the intention of taking down a ship a turn.

Right now, I see my biggest weakness being in number of targets presented to my opponent, and a lack of HPs (18 total) in the list. I'm going to hurt a bit too if a HSF Falcon gets a little too close.

Whaddya think?

It looks solid. Kath + Swarmlet would probably be better, but Kath + 2 heavy-hitting uberflankers ain't bad.

Could be excellent, but could depend on how you roll. If I were playing against that I would beeline for your interceptors to try to one shot them then play the advantage in firepower against your Firespray. In order to flank, you have to have a bigger threat to flank against, thus the mini swarm howl runner threat that everyone will have to address first. I might try of some 4 TIE build mini swarm with two interceptors for a flank. If you get you opponent to commit to your swarm (put them in the center) then you could save points by not putting PTL on them and keep your squints out of firing range entirely until the end of the match. Kir Kanos could be great for this.
