Comms Booster..s

By Bjorn Rockfist, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I noticed 2 things about this card. One it's not limited, and two it only requires energy to be spent not an action. So if you bought 2 Transports and 1 CR-90 you will have 4 copies. That would give you the option of running 2 Transports with 2 copies of Comms Booster on each. This would allow 4 ships to be stripped of their stress and gain a focus token within range 1-3 of the transports.

My rule question is this....the above would work correct?

I see no reason that wouldn't work. Seems like a lot of points just to do that though.

Still, with the coordinate action as well, with a list designed to take advantage of plentiful focus and in a stress heavy meta. Maybe

Here's a question. A ship with 2 comms boosters, any reason it can't select the same ship with both of them? With the above setup, put 4 focus a turn on the moldy crow for the first turn or two?

Agreed. But 2 transports with some B-Wing w/HLC escorts it could be fun K-Turning then getting that stress removed and gain a focus...helps with those pesky ships that make it behind the transports from time to time.

Correct. That works as intended.

That works fine.

i got into an argument today with a friend over comms booster

he says, you cant use it, if the target ship isnt stressed

It is not a conditional clause to have the stress to do Comms booster. It is conditional to spend the energy token to do Comms booster.

The ability can remove 0 stress tokens to apply 1 focus token.

Yes, you may use it on a ship with Zero stress tokens. You are removing all Zero stress tokens.

Other cards, such as C-3P0 are specific that you must meet a specific condition (such as having 1 or more defence dice in that example) to use the ability. Comms Booster has no requirements, as noted a few times above, so I too would agree that it works on a zero Stress ship.
