New to Game and got the Starter set for Eldritch

By Boremac, in CoC General Discussion

Was this a good move? Noticed the Asylum packs have a different back than the starter Eldritch so wondered if this was a different game set or just more cards.

What boosters and/or decks match the Eldritch cards in format (back picture and set up)?

Noticed something called a Conspiracy in the Asylum pack... what is the story with those?

Plenty more questions to come so thanks all in advance.

You made a fine purchase. The Eldritch Premium Deck is a cool 94 cards, ten unique to the set including Court of Yhtill and Fugitive, killers. Or perhaps you bought a box of Eldritch boosters, in which case you're psyched. 180 of a 240 cards set, 36 of the 80 rares - Norman, Prof of Archeology, Victoria, Scotophobia, Omar, Hermetic Scholar, Ezbekiyeh Gardens, Bloody Tongue, Temple of Nephren Ka, Shriek of Cities. Sweet!

Say no to white borderism. Yay sleeves!

Welcome to the game! Post Often. Zam!

Thanks for the quick hit but we actually have the Eldritch Premium Starter Set with the Investigators (Syndicate and Miskatonic U.) and the Mythos (Hastur and Yog-Sothoth) decks which are cool but we were looking for decks with the other factions as well with the same back of cards if possible.

Suggestions on boosters and/or packs for the Agency and Shub-Niggarath specifically in the Eldritch lines?

You can try to find boosters, and pre-white border Asylum Packs. I think anything of that will fall into your criteria. Arkham Edition boosters give you basic utility, as it's the first base set. If you can find those, it's great. Some of it got reprinted in the LCG Core set though. And with sleeves you can mix CCG and LCG version cards.

My favorite set from the CCG version of the game was Unspeakable Tales, but that's just me. From Eldritch on there was some powercreep, cumulating in the Forgotten Cities set. Try downloading the excellent Call of Cthulhu Deckbuilder Software to see what's what, and which product has what cards and all.

Thanks for the help! Is the Eldritch line a newer or older edition?

First there was Arkham Block (Large set: Arkham Edition, small sets: Unspeakable Tales and Forbidden Relics)

Then came Eldritch Block (Large set: Eldritch Edition, small sets: Masks of Nyarlathothep and Forgotten Cities)

These where followed by 4 AP's:

Spawn of Madness, Kingsport Dreams, Conspiracies of Chaos, Dunwitch Denizens.

After that, the game moved to the new white border LCG format:

Mountains of Madness AP, Ancient Horrors AP.

Then Core, then the new cycle of AP's.

Great information Marius and now I feel like a big dummy sorpresa.gif . So the wifey and I need to get the LCG starter set or is there a breakdown of the starter packs and which factions they contain somewhere so we can get the factions we lack and get the whole experience? Doh!

The post I am always happy to repeat, download the deckbuilder, linked by Marius above. You must do this thing for yourself.

The site is a great help on rules and cards, thanks tons! I will have a book of printed addendum materials before we buy more cards for sure so I know what the heck I am doing. BTW X-MtG player from years ago and I am enjoying this game much more already.
