Non-human Crew

By LunaticPathos, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

My group is setting up to play a Rebel Black Ops (sabotage/espionage) campaign but they have no humans. Any ideas on how they can infiltrate the Empire with no humans?

Was thinking of running Shell Game to start off, but it's hard to justify arriving in an Imp shuttle with no humans on board.

The typical solution my players always use is to pose as slaves. It's become completely overused in my games, but might work in yours.

I think it's a reasonable to say that imperial officers are almost entirely humans, the grunts could possibly be alien species. There's a few examples in the Legends EU of non-human imperials.

The why Legends showed it Non-Humans weren't forbidden from joining the Imperial military or even becoming officers in the OT era but those that did usually got crappy out of the way postings and missions. Really the Mon Cal is the only member of the group I see who couldn't be passed off as an Imp soldier or officer with some good fake IDs.

It's possible that rather than being directly part of the Imperial military (which has the strongest pro-Human bias), they could pass themselves off as part of an associated branch of the Imperial services. I believe Shell Game even cites the Imperial Exploration Corps as one such option.

Though with no Human "in charge," odds are your group are going to suffer at least one setback die on any social interaction rolls vs. Imperial military personnel due to how rampant such bias is (which can be easily negated by talents like Kill With Kindness, Convincing Demeanor, Plausible Denaibility and the like).

They could also be used for pro-Rebel/anti-Imperial missions taking place on the 97% of the galaxy's planets that are not under direct Imperial control.

Just make sure they have quick draw when the arrogant imperial says: "how did you 'things' get that ship?" Then come out blasters blazing.

Contractors? I mean if they technically work for Cygnus, or Sienar, or TaggeCo, then they could be anything the company considers the most profitable.

"A construction job of that magnitude would require a helluva lot more manpower than the Imperial army had to offer. I'll bet there were independent contractors working on that thing: plumbers, aluminum siders, roofers."

The movies provide examples of imperials using aliens. Bounty hunters, informants specifically.

For shell game, throw in a Human NPC to be the Imp officer. Who stays in his quarters most of the time.

I have three thoughts concerning this:

1. Except for the droid and probably the Twilek as well all those aliens are perfectly capable of disguising themselves as Stormtroopers.

2. According to Legends canon the Trandoshan are allied with the Empire.

3. If all else fails give them access to an unique gizmo (advanced sort of prosthetics or cloaking device) that lets them appear human. Something like that probably already exists somewhere in Star Wars canon.

Edit: Yes it exists already: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Holographic_disguise_matrix
