Any ideas what the Empire will get for Huge Ships?

By 40cake, in X-Wing

I noticed FFG released Huge Ships without an Imperial support. So as someone who doesn't have extensive knowledge of the SW universe, what would be a likely ship for the Empire? I don't remember them really having any ships small enough to fit in the X-Wing scale...

Ideas?

There's a few ships that will fit. Such as the Vigil, the Lancer and the ship that they'll have in the new Rebels cartoon.

Is the Vigil the Missile Cruiser from Empire at War? That's what it looked like when I searched it up

If so

Broadside.

They need to make sticky threads in here, the empire big ships one clearly needs it.

To quote my post from a couple of the threads ago

This is probably the best of recent threads to see the options for an imperial huge ship without getting bogged down by the star destroyer debate

And if you DO want to look at the star destroyer debate, I think this thread is the one to read

Only please don't post in it and start the argument again.

[Agrily shakes fist] No it has not, and you are wrong and also stupid for disagreeing with me and believing that it has!

;~)

Just kidding

Seriously though, I think that at least a partial reason they have held off is because the Imperial "Huge" ships could very well be determined by the new Rebels show, and anything planned for Ep. VII-IX.

I've been waiting for someone to bring up this topic.

I'm guessing something from Rebels might fit the right size.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but the rate at which FFg releases new products makes me think that they won't wait that long. Do you think it is a possibility that FFG might release a ship before it was used anywhere else in the EU? People might rush out to buy it just to see who is in it.

I have been pondering this myself.

Could be a very interesting marketing ploy for the movies/show to pump up the hype.

Honestly without an imperial huge ship the rebel ships feel kinda pointless.

Right now playing with them just seems like an odd off balanced narrative game.

There is no space battle feel to them right now and since the transport came out I still play much much more with the dogfights then I do w the huge ships. The huge ships are not a complete failure but I honestly see them more as a collectors item then an actual gaming piece.

How is everyone else's experience e last month with them?

For huge ships FFG have to really offer something that is popular enough or cool enough for people to care (given the limited usage and the price tag). The transport was pushing it - it's in the movies sure, but it's just a boring transport ship!

The lack of well known and/or well designed imperial ships under 150m long is putting FFG in a very awkward position. Star Destroyers are surely out of the question - I doubt they would introduce a third scale. Even the smallest models that have some of the recognisable features are too large.

The only two ships that are somewhat recognisable and could work are the Republic Cruiser (seen on screen) and the Wild Karde (which is just hideous).

So unfortunate.

Good thing I'm a Rebel!!

Wild Karrde is so ugly it's sexy.

Actually, I think FFG's best move here would be to create a new Imperial cruiser design which resembles a Star Destroyer but is it's own thing.

Any ideas if there's a precedent for this (add stuff to the StarWars lore) in any of the other SW licensed games?

I think they could use the imperial escort carrier from Rogue Squadron 3 rebel strike. The tartan patrol corvette from Empire at War. They could also use the marauder class corvette from EaW but I'm hoping that go's to the rebels! Really even if they make up a new ship it wouldn't be that bad. As long as it's triangular and comes with good cards or pilots then we will still buy it. We may complain, but we will still buy it.

Plenty of discussion on this topic, along with suggestions, ships and scale here

You caught the Newbie! I thought it might be a topic of discussion already, I just didn't see anything recent on it and didn't want to necro a thread

WHAT IS THIS NEW REBELS SHOW?

I HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS

I'm saying why would they not do a scaled down star destroyer? That is going to be the huge ship.

You open yourself to great danger. Such discussions only bring misery...
