Krassix & Friends - an imperial 4 ship build

Hey guys,

what do you think about that Build:

- Krassix Trallix with Heavy Laser Cannon & Rebel Captive

- Omicron Group Pilot with Lord Vader & Ion Cannon

- 2x Obsidian Squadron Pilots

99 Points.

Krassix should stay on either the right or left flank - staying at range 3 and using his "BFG". With 4 Attack dice, a focus token and his pilot ability he should be able to do some serious damage and to steal some shields from the Rebel scum.

With PS 3 the Obsidians shot next - hopefully do some damge!

Than it's the shuttles turn with PS 2 - to deal some damge and crits to the crippled ships - hopefully some fools shot at Krassix before (thanks to the rebel captive that means stress) - in that case the shuttle should use the ion cannon to give the pilot a flying lesson.

All in all 26 Hitpoints, 11 Attack dice, 9 Evade dice - 4 ships in total!

If your space-bison has Vader on it, it should not have other upgrades. Vader's only going to blow it up

I like to run Kassix with Ion cannon and rebel captive. His mid range pilot skill works great for this. A higher pilot skill pilot shoots at Kass. They take a stress. He fires back with Ion. Nothing is more enjoyable then to Ion your opponents top elite stressed ship. I love me some HLC. But this combination with an Ion is just to fun. Will even free up 4 points.

Add Backstabber? So instead of Ion-Stress Combo you would prefer another strong flanking ship with PS 6 and also an Academy Pilot as a solid blocker? Mh ... interesting idea - the enemy have to watch the actions of the shuttle, backstabber and Krassix - but also it's very difficult to perform a multiple flanking maneuver.

I don't think so. Of course the shuttle is doomed - but that doesn't mean that i don't deserve any upgrade. An ion cannon is just 3 points - i knew people who put a Gunner (5 points!) on a doom shuttle to perform double crits!

Hehe - i like the face of an opponent, who's ship got ionized+stressed too. But in that case - who should deal the damage? I prefer the HLC for the Range 3 fire support - hell i got situations where Krassix nearly killed Biggs with a single attack. (okay in that case there was also a mercenary copilot for the direct-hit critical!) playing without the HLC (in that Squad of course) is ... well it just feeled "naked"/wrong - or whatever you want to call it!

I just don't think putting more points onto a Vader ship is likely to pan out. That said, Badwolf has a good point about having Krassis be his own Combo, leaving you space for Night Beast. Quality Tie Support is pretty fantastic...

Me Likey!! You could move the Ion to Krassis and put gunner on the OGP - Shoot and miss, Vader, shoot, TL or Focus or both, get a good hit, Vader. Shuttle will go away very fast but it sure will be spectacular. You could even crit a shieldless ship at range 3 (after an intentional miss) and then Gunner a second, easier to hit target.

I have to second (or third) removing other upgrades on a Vader equipped shuttle. That's just a bad investment no matter how you look at it.

It is only 3 pts more for the Ion. In my opinion, that isn't a bad buy. You can up a tie fighter to Night Beast or backstabber if you free up 1 pt, but nothing game breaking. The Ion might end up being more worth it. Also, you don't HAVE to constantly use Vader, just for that 1 pt of needed damage.

On that note, you might be hard pressed to find the right ship to Ionized. For example, Krassis and the PS 3 ties remove shields, Shuttle shoots, you use Vader to finish off the ship. At this point Ion isn't needed since the ship is probably dead. You'll want to use the ion to take ships out of the fight, more likely. I think it would work bettee on a higher PS ship, like Krassis.

Heck, you could put the HLC on the Shuttle, maybe find enough pts for an engine!

Works fairly well. The early turns are really crucial against swarms, but it does all right.

I'm not as lucky as you think with dice :D

I would drop the ion cannon from the Omicron. Remeber every point you put on that ship is a vicotry point you will be handing to your opponent. This is fine if it is a trade for for something good, but it is a trade and you want to keep you side as cheap as possible.

I like putting either a gunner or recon spec on firesprays.

After flying Krassis a lot with HLC I found that I just love my rear arc too much.

I would really like to see a few more firespray pilots. One that abuses asteroids, one that gets free TL's or abuses TL'd opponents, I also wouldn't mind one that calls its target at set up and gets fancy bonuses against that target.

Regular BH is nice, Krassis might as well cost 7pts more, and both Fett and Scarlet's abilities are pretty meh in the end.

All I want is a Firespray that can shoot secondary weapons out of its auxiliary arc. Is that so much to ask, FFG?

If you want to have fun with firespray, give it expert handling. Give it a try trust me you will be glad you did.

Jonus with Krassix? That's sound like an overkill for me! In the last german Regionals i beat a Krassix/Jonus/Gamma squad without losing a single ship within 20-30 Minutes. The Captain is a nice ship - but with him, i would bedder drop Krassix to a regular Bounty Hunter.

HLC on the Shuttle? I tried that before - it was nice, but the Shuttle lacks on it's lower PS, the missing Re-Roll (Krassix Ability) and also without an engine and the Sensors ... well maneuvering is terrible! The Spray on the other side can use a 4 Koiogran - with the large base that's a wide maneuver and then use the HLC for Range 2-3 shots!

Mh ... still not sure about the Ion Cannon. :/
Gunner is a great crew member - but with a HLC kind of overuse or? Specially with Krassix Ability. Recon Specialist is also a nice crew member - but to be honest, it has a great reputation and is overused. I mean the problem with Recon specialist - yeah it's cool and nice to have 2 focus tokens - one for the offense, one for the defense or maybe both for eyes on the cold cold defense dices. But when the enemy blocks you (certainly that happens when i play against swarms a.s.o) you can't take a focus action - rebel captive or the flight instructor work pretty well in that case. And also in my experience, every time i took the recon specialist, i wasn't able to use the second focus token.

Expert-Handling? Yeah that's a nice combo! I played it on Boba and had great success, winning a store championship ruler! But i like to change my squad - playing the same list again and again is boring, isn't it?

Mh maybe i should drop the Ion Cannon and put a seismic charge on Krassix - to protect him from some aggressive outmaneuver pilots & ships. With 2x Obsidian there would be place for another Elite-TIE Upgrade. Maybe Nightbeast. Or 1 Academy + a PS 6 16 Points TIE like Dark Curse or Backstabber... very difficult!
