So what's he gonna come with? We've got all the big Rebel crew cards now, he's surely gonna be with the next Imperial Large or Huge Ship, which kinda suggests to me it won't be an EU ship, but where else do you see him? Are we gonna get a Death Star? What's left?
Palpatine
Should you, though? Palpatine doesn't really belong on a dogfighting battlefield any more than Mon Mothma or Yoda does.
Where's my Tarkin crew card

Oh yeah, I forgot about them! We'll surely get them at some point too.
Well by that logic neither does Vader as a crew card, but we have him. And we have the Emperor's Royal Guard Ties so we'll surely get him to be escorted by them.
Tarkin too, yeah. "When a ship declares you as the target of an attack you may choose another target. A Military target."
Edit: Not an action, obviously
Edited by mazz0Or Pellaeon, Or Thrawn, Or Isard. I'd imagine all of them turning up before the Emperor.
Difference is that Vader actually flew a fighter.
I really would like to see a Palpatine crew card that has some kind of support buff. Royal guard interceptors escorting a Vader shuttle is pretty cool and thematic until you realize they are escorting a VIP shuttle that is actively trying to kill itself

Who?

He was already a Pilot card, he's also a Crew card.
I could imagine a game mechanic for an off-board commander, the guy who is in charge of the group of fighters you sent into action.
one could think of different, global effects such a position could offer:
- list building: subselections, preferential groupings, boni/mali
- during the game: global abilities/buffs, variations in victory conditions
just some ideas which come to mind, probably more out there, they could shape the style of chosen list.
all of the named guys here in the thread palpatine, tarkin, Mon Mothma, Yoda, etc, fit more as political or military leader without being pilots or active crew.

Forgive my noobness but can someone show me this shuttle you speak of? Is it just a Capt Kagi shuttle or do you put something on it as well?
And no one cares for Piett or Needa or Ozzel?
Needa would sacrifice himself to prevent damage to his ship in some way.
"Apology accepted captain Needa." - Vader

Regular Lambda Shuttle with Darth Vader as a crew member aka the Doom Shuttle. It destroys itself at some point so you are using it to destroy something worth more than its own cost (24 points).
Thanks!

When the number of damage cards assigned to you exceeds or equals your hull value, you may discard this card to discard two face down damage cards.

Neither does Jan Dodonna, Toryn Farr, or Rieekan.
I'd also like to see Captain Sarklii, Admiral Piett, or Grand Moff Jerjerrod.
Vader took a very hands on approach to killing rebel scum, so he clearly belongs in the game. The emperor, im not so sure.
Wasn't Palpatine a master of the battle meditation, hence the fleet falling apart after his death?

Yeah he was, though Thrawn, Mara Jade in one of her ships, and the admirals captains, and generals from the films would be nice to see if they do imperial captial ships.

I think that was the attempt at an explanation/quantification of the narrative causality win within the EU universe (i think Zahn/thrawn trilogy) to explain why the hell the empire lost there, at least so fast and decisive given the overall numbers.

We do not yet have Admiral Ackbar, President Mon Mothma, or Dak Ralter.
Dak Ralter's ability would probably be, "You may set your dial after other ships at the same pilot skill have completed their maneouvres. After you perform this ability you may not perform an action, suffer one damage if base contact is made this round.
Interesting no one mentions Obi Wan as a pilot. Granted he admits he is not a great one, but his ability to use the force might make him interesting, see it now "no he is not the x-wing I want to shoot at"
I see him as a much more likely crew card.
Ozel likes to come out of hyperspace too close to the enemy so his ability could increase the area your ships can deploy in.
Tarkin is good at controlling people (he even got Vader to stop killing someone), so his ability would be interesting is he shut off pilot and crew abilities of all ships at range 1 or 2.
Piet is interesting. His most remarkable interaction is that he got promoted for being around when others fail. So maybe his ship gains a pilot skill every time another of your ships goes down.
Akbar should either deal with "traps" or he should help you concentrate your firepower. I like the second idea better. Something like discard: each additional ship that fires at the same enemy ship this turn rolls an additional attack die.
