I ran 2 DTF bsp and they did fairly well. That was quite some time ago though.
What about
Howl

Alpha x2
Academy x1
Increases your overall damage and changes the threat to the alphas who can do quite a bit of damage. You still have DTF but now you have good blockers with a boost action
Interesting, I'll try that. I have never flown a swarm before.
I built this list awhile back, never got to play it yet though.. also I'm 3 elusiveness short which doesn't help.
5x Black Squadron + Elusiveness : 80pts
1x Howlrunner + Elusiveness : 20pts
could even drop a black for SD's. PTL and SD might work out really well just on 5 black squadrons too. I could see them really being a pain to kill off with focus + evade + 4 agility each round..

Spamming Elusiveness or PtL on TIE's is problematic because you don't have much movement options to clear the stress. You're basically making your opponent's job of getting you in their firing arc easier and making it that much harder for your ships to do the same...
My favorite TIE swarm to run is the six named TIES list:
Winged Gundark
Night Beast
Dark Curse
Backstabber
Mauler Mithel
Howlrunner
+Stealth Device
Some of the lesser used TIES have surprisingly useful abilities. Most of them fly in a swarm. As usual, place lower skilled pilots in the front and towards the inside of the turn, and deploy Backstabber separately so he can be a distraction.
