Will Empire have the edge at Imdaar Alpha Finals?

By Wraithdt, in X-Wing

Here's what I'm thinking of as a counter to Chewie, though not sure of it'd

work:

Sigma Sq. Phantom w/ Adv. Sensors & Stygium Cloak

Omicron Shuttle with HLC & Adv. Sensors

Brath w/ Decoy (if I can use it) or Swarm Tactics

Brath would then stick with the shuttle, shooting as late as possible to maximize the effect of his pilot ability. We'll see how great Chewie is when he's piloting a 2 attack, 0 Agility boat that can't take a turn without stressing himself!

I still think the Phantom is too powerful for it's point cost, but local meta and regionals lists will bear that out or not, accordingly.

Whisper w/ Recon Spec., Sensor Jammer, Vet. Instincts & Advanced Cloak - 44

Delta sqd - 30

Royal Guard w/ PtL - 25

I'd be awfully disappointed if a Rebel list beat that ;)

Solid idea. But I feel Echo is the superior choice. Many "pro" players have Echo pegged as possibly the first possible ban. There is a harsh truth, the top seeded Imperial should be a better flying player. If true, Echo should be the Soontir Fel of the lists.

Your solid design would have extra points if Whisper became Echo. It would allow upgrades on the Defender, or the other ships.

The real question is "Is 3 or 4 ships the better choice?". It is on the pilot, but maybe more us better. The other truth is: Did the Rebel play Vassal against Whisper, Echo, or neither?

From our Regionals, training is big... so is unpredictability. I live PTL Intercetors, think they are the best right now. If the Phantom acts similar, I feel the advantage is there; Rebels are superior because they have more forgiveness for mistakes.

SHORT ANSWER: Advantage is with the pilot.

I have heard none of this possible Echo Ban. Whrere have you been hearing that?

I think I may have heard some TC guys mention it, although I could be wrong.

High PS YT-1300 should hard counter Echo. It is more of a meta game counter than a piloting counter, but it is certainly there. I have yet to run the statistics on the Regionals, but in the Store Championships around 15% of all points were spent on turreted ships. That number increases to about 28% when considering only Rebel ships.

Meh, some on Team Covenant are blowing Echo up out of proportion. He is slippery, no doubt. But, I feel it will just take some time to learn how to set up a proper cross hairs to hit him.

I'm halfway thinking I would run Whisper. Advanced Cloaking Device, Veteran Instincts, and Recon Specialist makes him a bit tanky.

I agree, that and the other thing is that if he is using a bank if he wants to keep YOU in his arc it does limit his options so even if he is dancing to avoid your arcs you should know where he wants to go and deny him those spots

Thanks, but as MajorJuggler pointed out, Han Solo has no trouble taking out Echo. Of course, with Han taking Vet. Instincts, he probably has little trouble killing Whisper too. We'll see, I guess

That's the build I posted above, except you forgot the Sensor Jammer for maximum tanky overdrive ;)

Unless you go up against Solo w/ Vet. Instincts...

Honestly, you'd be a fool not to run a YT with Gunner if you know your opponent is fielding two 3+ agility ships.

42 Chewbacca

5 Gunner

35 Corran Horn

3 Marksmanship

2 Fire-Control System

12 Bandit Squadron Pilot

Add VI where appropriate, or leave it out for an initiative bid.

And if you are paranoid of PS9 Whisper with Advanced Cloaking Device, then this is a hard counter:

Han Solo + Veteran Instincts + Luke Skywalker + C3-P0 + Engine Upgrade (61)

Knave Squadron Pilot (27)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

The rebels should have the advantage, IF they get a turret. The PS bid isn't needed, but would hard counter a high PS Phantom with Advanced Cloaking.

is C-3PO legal for IA?

The Transport is released, thus it's upgrades are legal.

Yeah except no, C-3PO is in the tantive, which just came out. That's two weeks or less, which I'm pretty sure they don't allow because a reasonable amount of time has to pass for players to buy/be exposed to new cards before they're legal.

New products are legal upon release. From the Tournament Rules:

All Star Wars: X-Wing™ Miniatures Game components are legal for sanctioned play unless they are marked with the epic icon (ships with the epic icon ( ) next to the card title on the Ship card can be fielded only in Epic Play), or temporarily banned from tournament play (such as when a product is released in the midst of a tournament season).

We had Transport cards less than 3 days before our Regionals. They were legal.

Oh ok. Guess it's just our local place then. Half of our local crew are younger guys, they don't have the money to fork over all the time on this kind of stuff so our store isn't going to allow them.
