thinking about F&D beta.

So how do the Force-Sensitive Exile & Emergent compare to these specializations?

There are still things I like in those trees, but, they get no skills, and they get no talents to really buff skills. I would never tell anyone how to play their character.

I would roll a Zabrak Niman Disciple myself..... ;)

There are Improved and Supreme versions of Parry and Reflect that deal with redirecting attacks back at attackers, as well as, lowering Strain cost to 1 if you are in purely defensive mode.

do they have a set difficulty for lightsaber attacks in there?

Can you tell us if glowsticks are starting kit?

There are some of these specs that are clearly aimed at iconic Jedi images. There are some from left field. My suggestion would be for people to approach it as if F&D had always existed and some of these specs are more like fully fleshed out Exiles and Emergents. How a FS would have integrated themselves and their powers into a post Jedi world. I'm not telling anyone to re-roll their Exiles or Emergents, I'm just saying these specs could be viewed as a Force Sensitive working things out on their own, or as a Padawan or Youngling that went into hiding. There is plenty of room to tweak backgrounds.

Yep, I see it as a toolbox to reskin as you wish. 'Emergent' is an Alliance-only spec for us, the padawans trained by Ben when he left the Jedi following the Exodus.

Looks like Mystic/Consular, Warrior/Guardian and Seeker/Sentinel are the 'Jedi' and non-Jedi versions of similar classes? A bit like Trader/Entrepreneur/Quartermaster covers blue-collar/white-collar and military versions of the same class?

Anyway, thanks for the info, 2P51! It must have been stressful not being able to tell us all your secret playtester lore until today! :)

I had to stay away from some threads, and whenever someone was typing in absolutes about how "it is going to be" "guaranteed". I wrote a bunch of times about 'I have faith FFG will paint in broad strokes to appeal to as many as possible' or stuff of that nature.

It's a melee attack.

I kinda guessed you might be! :) Well played, sir!

There were threads you didn't post in?

:o

I like that other than the lightsaber based ones not all the specialties are "Jedi" specific and I was really hoping the same would be said for the careers, which in a way they are general enough to work for any other force discipline. And Togruta as a species in the book is something I have been looking forward to.

A friend of mine went to gen-con and I sent along with him the means to purchase me a copy. Just gotta wait another week to get it.

That's fluff. There is what's called "Knight Level" which is a +150xp if you want to start folks out higher. It may have talked about Lightsabers and such, but there is no yes/no that I recall.

I can tell you a couple things. The Lightsaber we have seen is a tricked out one. Lightsabers have slots. Lightsabers use crystals...... :)

Yah sure, heyyyyyyy......................... <_< ............I sense sarcasm in the Force...............

Togruta are cool.

That sounds cool.

I kinda guessed there would be rules for the equivalent of Shadowrun's 'Prime Runners' for those who wanted to start out a fully-fledged glowstick guy or gal.

Better to baseline it low and upgrade at GMs discretion, than the other way around.

Gotta admit I'm liking this so far. Sounds very sane and balanced.

(Erik's gonna hate it! :) )

Please mr. Pirate, tell us more about the sabers!? :D

One interesting thing is that careers, not specializations, give you Force rating. Although it's not spelled out (that I know of), I'm assuming that F&D specializations all require FR 1 if you come to them from EotE or AoR.

You did not read that. I was never here...

What kind? Basic, Double-bladed, Pike, Shoto, or Training??

Togruta are cool.

I don't understand how they get through life with those... growths? Some of them look like they'd have a tough time dealing with a stiff wind. Heaven forbid one of them wants to get into a tight refresher stall, or go see a holo.

You big tease, you! :)

Yes, but not all the specs have a FR boost, and some have two..............

Just make sure you have the character editor updated by tomorrow at the latest , OggDude! :)

Swoooon! That's what I was hoping for, at least a way to have it addressed. Got a lot of flak for my hope, if I recall...

Though...150XP seems a bit low for a "Knight" :)

Togruta are cool.

Maybe they're just fun to play with...

From elsewhere:

Consular- Healer, Niman Disciple, Sage

Guardian- Peacekeeper, Protector, Soresu Defender

Mystic- Advisor, Makashi Duelist, Seer

Seeker- Ataru Striker, Hunter, Pathfinder

Sentinel- Artisan, Shadow, Shien Expert

Warrior- Aggressor, Shii-Cho Knight, Starfighter Ace

Well, that settles that - there are no mortals in the game, just people with Force Mojo.

They get 2 Boost dice when doing assists.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I guess they felt that only certain disciplines could increase your affinity with the Force. Or something like that :)

Indeed. Not all of them get an FR talent though.
