Weapon Engineer & Targeting Coordinator

By Gibbobobo, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Just wondering how these two cards work together.

Weapons Engineer.

When you acquire a target lock, you may lock onto 2 different ships.

Targeting Coordinator.

You may spend 1 energy to choose 1 friendly ship at Range 1-2. Acquire a target lock, then assign the blue target lock token to the chosen ship.

When I spend the energy to use the Coordinator, I'm presuming I can acquire 2 target locks due to the Engineer, do I then just assign one of the blue target locks to the chosen ship and keep the second on the CR-90 or would I have to assign them both to the target ship who would then only get to keep one?

My current thinking is one would stay on the CR-90, but just wondering what other people's take on it were?

My reading is that one of them stays with the corvette, yes.

If I already have two target locks from weapon engineer can I use the targeting coordinator to gain a another target lock during the energy phase to pass to another ship and keep the previous two? Or would the the lock from coordinator break one of the ones I already have? I'm guessing its the latter but no harm in asking.

Since you acquire the target lock first and then pass it I would say you have to lock onto a new ship which would break an existing lock and then pass over the blue token for the new lock.

Concur with both answers.
