Prequel references in the game

By markcsoul, in X-Wing

Let me start out by saying I don't want any discussion of OT vs PT, or whether or not there should be PT ships in the game, those all have their own discussions already.

This post is about "references" to the prequels in the game already. I've been thinking it over and there are more than some people realize I think, some more subtle than others.

Seismic Charges - The one everyone knows is a prequel reference, but often many think is the ONLY prequel reference.

Captain Kagi - The most clearly prequel reference after Seismic Charges, his name is mentioned in ROTS.

Senator Shuttle Token - From TPM

R2-D2 - No, not the fact that he's technically introduced in the prequels, but his ability. He regenerates shields, which was never shown in the OT, but WAS shown in TPM.

Firespray/Slave 1 - Again it was obviously shown in the OT first, but it never was in combat, and basically just flew in a straight line. AOTC showed how powerful and maneuverable it could be in combat, which surely had an influence on its in-game stats.

Homing Missiles - I think these are supposed to be the ones Jango fired off in AOTC.

Predator - Prequel capital ship in the card art.

If you can think of any others please add them.

Asteroids! The recurring supporting cast of our favourite space borne boulders. ;)

I dunno about R2... I clearly remember Luke saying "That stablizer's broken loose again, see if you can't lock it down!" and "R2, try and increase the power!" which I assumed were general repairs that most, if not all astromechs were capable of. I will say I haven't watched Episode I in a while, so I might be wrong about the shield thing specifically though.

He repaired a lot of stuff in all 6 movies, but TPM was the only time he actually repaired shields on a ship. The Queen's Royal Starship during their escape through the blockade to be specific.

Well, the Firespray is also featured in quite a few books and comics, so they could have gotten data from that. I don't think your case is strong enough there to call it a prequal reference.

Although the art for Expert Handling is entirely Rebellion-era, it always makes me think "let's try spinning, that's a good trick!"

Assault and Cluster Missiles could easily be those being fired from the LAAT/i Gunships and Hailfire Droid Tanks at Geonosis, respectively.

So are Y-Wings, but in both cases they are earlier models that don't look the same as the ones in this game, so that's why I excluded them.
