So, that bodes well for the movie! Actual sets, actual animatronix, happy to see this!!!

I was dead hyped by the creature, but "A Force For Change" sounds suspiciously political and like work.

His name is J.J. Abrams. Not Abrahams...

Practical special effects and sets. That is a great thing.

That's because it isn't the title of the movie, but an initiative by Disney using Star Wars to get people to donate money to causes. Read the description below the video. It talks all about what Star Wars: A Force for Change is.

Aye. Keep chugging out of Star Wars.

Don't much care for the tag line, for reasons sylpheed stated, but I'll be donating to help the cause. UNICEF has some really good people in their organization and I had the privilege to interact and assist some of them during the Pakistan flood relief back in 2010. Definitely a worthy cause to support and who knows, you might get to see some of the movie way before any of us! ;)

Okay, put the pitchfork down!!! I'm sorry I misspelled a name!

Now why on earth did that quote just make the video clickable??

When did I say anything about the prequels not using such?

What was that again about a silly statement?

Thank you for that. Now I know not to read this topic :)

Is that supposed to be Tatooine?

I really, really, hope there aren't any obvious comparisons to realworld events or politics. I watch Star Wars to submerse myself in another make believe world and would hate to be sitting in a theatre constantly reminded of something currently in the news. Even once if there is an obvious, on purpose, "Oh that's about Bush/Obama/Religion/GunControl/Immigration/Blahblah", moment, I will be pissed off.

The title a force for change is NOT the title of the movie. It is the title of the fundraising campaign. They are tryibg to rais money for unicef by giving a background performer role.

The title is a reference to the mythical power in star wars called the force and the change come from trying to make the world a better place. Sheesh.

Yeah, I am surprised so many posts are dedicated to slamming or questioning an obvious slogan..

Well, I don't know about you guys, but

I am sure as heck not a force for change. I'm a fanboy of a fun movie featuring laser swords and space fighters thankyouverymuch.

For the record, this....

.....does NOT mean....

Yeah, I am surprised so many posts are dedicated to slamming or questioning an obvious slogan..

,,,,,that I regarded the title of the campaign as the title of Episode VII, but was responding to the political comment in this post......

I was dead hyped by the creature, but "A Force For Change" sounds suspiciously political and like work.

..... which got me thinking of the possibility of Abrams inserting political commentary in his works (see quote below if you don't wish to follow the link and read the entire article).

So please don't accuse me of "slamming" and missing something "obvious". (edit due to Sylpheed's response, my bad)

And if you think critics are over-stating the case, even star Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the evil Khan, said the film explicitly takes on recent American politics. The British actor told the BBC, “It’s no spoiler I think to say that there’s a huge backbone in this film that’s a comment on recent U.S. interventionist overseas policy from the Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld era.

I have no idea where people get the idea that I thought A Force For Change was the title of the movie.

I just don't want to have to fight my way past a line of 'Force For Change' chuggers shaking tins for community outreach projects for diabetic meerkats in order to get in to see episode VII, or to hear debates about whether Star Wars should be supporting pro-life or pro-choice charities.

You know what unites fans of Star Wars across the world?

They are fans of Star Wars.

My bad, re-read what you said and editted my response to the same sort of accusations. :)

I don't mind Star Wars being used to gather funds for a good project, I would encourage it, but I too don't wish politics, even those I agree with, to get into the movie theatre.

I am sure they won't. If anything this seems like a way of keeping them out...

In other Star Wars movie news, they just announced the director of the first stand alone Spin Off movie: Gareth Edwards. And this is both good news and bad news. This means we wont see the next Godzilla movie until 2016 (at least), but it's good news because - well, you know, Star Wars.

Seriously this makes me WAY more pumped than E7. I thought Godzilla was goddamned brilliant, while everything I've seen JJ do is pedestrian to godawful.

I'm not a big fan of the new Godzilla movie, but Polaris network on YouTube put out that the spin-off might be about Red Squadron. Now that has me excited, more space battles and less lightsabre wankery. Apologies to those who like that sort of thing but I've gotten a bit burned out by Jedi oversaturation, important part of the universe or not.

Awesome.

Liked your post overall, but I actually like Abrams. Well, I didn't really like his TV stuff, but I loved what he did with Star Trek and Super 8, for example. I hope that is the Abrams we see in Episode 7, not Revolution.

And more awesome. Rogue Squadron during the Civil War or during the new time period (Ep. 7 - 9)?. I'm not sure which one I would prefer more. The new adventures of Rogue Squadron of the New Republic would be nice, but I also would enjoy a flash back movie. I'm not an EU fan, I'm sure it has been done as a novel (?), but I can imagine a movie beginning with how Red Squadron was founded during the early days of the Rebellion. Porkins (the jokster misfit with a heart), Dreis (grizzled veteran who saw some action at the end of the Clone Wars), Wedge (young prodigy), a new hot shot showing up named Biggs, and a roguish Jal who captures all of their hearts. After misadventures and internal conflicts, they finally pull together to become a top squadron. They lose Jal just before arriving at Yavin. The end shows a friend of Biggs showing up to fill the spot of their recently fallen roguish pilot. Some reference is made to renaming themselves "Rogue Squadron" in memory of their friend as they board ships to fly against the Death Star.

I'm sure EU X-wing fans would hate a re-write but I would rather see that then the future adventures of Rogue Squadron.

If they can farm out Star Wars to sell cars and fast food they might as well to do some actual good in the world also as far as I'm concerned.
