YT-1300 rebuild

By jedidude, in X-Wing

after doing a repaint recently, i decided to try my hand at a rebuild. never done anyting like this before so was pretty experimental and took a while, but pretty happy with the result...

moved and rotated the cockpit, removed the front cowling between the mandibles, removed the rectenna and added a blaster in its stead, and a couple of blasters under the belly, while removing the quad lasers above and below. added a total of six tanks and a hatch on the front side, followed by a repaint....

This leaves me wondering what the inside of the cockpit looks like, it sure is different, I'll grant you that. :D .

I think I personally would've turned the cockpit so the windows were facing down and front instead of up and front, but nice job!

Really cool! Love the Ma Deuce.

Wow, could you show us the process???, greettings.

yeah, ideally i would have had the cockpit more parallel with the ship's body, but like i said, this was my first try at a rebuild....

my explanation for it is that there's no wind resistance in space so can be whatever shape without experiencing drag ;)

unfortunately i didn't take WIP pictures.....should have done....

If you stand it in its nose it has a COCKpit

I really like the paint job the red and white is very striking but not a fan of the conversion. The 1/35 tanks and .50 cal break the scale

This is all I see too :(

Sorry!

I do love the paint job but the cockpit is on too much of an angle, it has nothing to do with airodynamics as ,like you put it,there is no wind in space, however there is on planets and a YT will want to land on one eventuality. But more importantly the pilot can't see forward to well.

Judging by the plastic gray on the guns and tanks your not finished, so I'd suggest you pull of the cockpit and sand it down.

Use either a sanding block or put some sand paper on a flat surface, id start with some course grain first to do the bulk of it then finish with a nice small grain to getting it smooth.

Do it in steps so you don't over do it.

Also something to pick up would be some model putty to fill in any gaps left around the added on parts.

yeah i might try sanding it down to get a better angle....

as for the gaps - all filled in with green stuff....so not sure which gaps you mean?

as for the guns and tanks - they were a light silvery gray when i got the parts. guns are now painted with abaddon black with a mechanicus standard gray dry brush, and the tanks are painted mechanicus standard gray with abaddon black tubes....so they are done....see pic of the color before as compared to after....

The paint job is striking! Nice job there. I think the tanks definitely add a unique and interesting element. Not a fan of the guns, they seem out of scale to me. Regarding the cockpit, the easiest fix might be to slice the front off, paint over the top windows and flip it so that the front windows are at the bottom. At least you'd have visual of a more forward view. I definitely like where you're headed with the build.
