I just bought it and quickly read through it. I like it a lot, both the idea and the execution, although I am a bit worried that the guardsmen will die or get irradiated, ending in failure...
I particularly like all the new items.
Salvaging Solace
Is it easily adaptable to other regiment use? I'm thinking of buying it if my own regiment is easily inserted into play rather than a pre generated one.
If it isn't tank-based: No problem.
Ideally it is a mechanized regiment, as at one point a chimera is
very
useful, but since you can just say that they get one as transport while in Solace, or that there just is one around, it's not an issue.
Tanks would be harder / they would be worse off in the rest of the scenario depending on equip.
It does seem quite likely, however, that they die at the end of the scenario, or at least some of the characters. I'd have to read up on fatigue again, but that's something you might want to consider and tweak.
Otherwise, I like the story, there's cool new items for them to get and good ideas for fleshing out the history of the regiment in the form of stories for these items.

Should that be surprising? We are talking about the IG. PCs or not, Guardsmen are going to die. The trick is in accomplishing the mission before they die.
Sure, but in all the other adventures I've read, there wasn't such a likely death at the end. Plus, if they fail, then their entire regiment (and a lot of other things) get wiped off the planet...
It seems to me a cool ending for a convention game, with last-second heroics or a big bang at the end. For a longer campaign it might just be a tad too likely to wipe everything out, which would likely end that campaign.
I wonder how burning Fate
would
could
help there.
