Big ship bases warp

By tsondaboy, in X-Wing

Has anyone else noticed their big ship bases warping over time?

All of my big ship bases have warped to the point they dont sit flat on a surface any more.

Some of them have warped so much that the overall length is shorter by 2 mm because of the arching.

Anyone else has similar problems?

Edit: Not the cardboard but the plastic bases themselves.

Here is an example.

Do you mean the cardboard chits or the plastic bases themselves?

I mean the plastic bases themselves.

Mine did a bit when I left them in the boot of a my car for the day. Mine aren't very bad so I haven't bothered to fix them yet, but if you put them on a piece of paper and a nice flat surface and then slowly heat them with a hairdryer, that should fix them up.

I ve fixed warped miniatures in the past by heating them as you say.

The problem is plastic tends to have memory and over time it will warp again.

I have the same problem with one of my large bases too. I hope my other bases don't go bad.

Here is an example:

Most of the big bases I have gotten came like this. FFG has replaced one of them. However, seeing as this is a trend with most of them, it's only an eyesore.

Are you leaving them in extreme heat?

Nope, stored in a plastic case all the time. Only take them out for gaming.

I have 7 big bases and 2 are warped. One of them so warped that I won't use it for gameplay.

I dropped my base once... It turned into a Skrillex song.

All your base are belong to us.

I just got a Tantive IV and the bases were like this out of the box. They are also cloudy instead of clear.

Has anyone tried boiling water then ice water to fix them?

I fixed a base that was warped beyond use, by leaving it in really warm water for a minute, then pressing it flat on a table. That worked fine.
