What is your favourite eagle deck? Does it include Radagast? I want to build an eagle deck but I'm not sure about the hero lineup.
Eagle decks
I remember that I used to have Boromir and Beregond in my Eagles deck, can't remember the third but I think it was Prince Imrahil to take advantage of Eagles leaving play so often. It was a pretty good deck but just too slow and not good enough for me....
My opinion is that Eagles need just a few more cards to become a viable deck type (I know they are viable now but just not at the level of almost any other deck type; Rohan, Dwarf, Hobbit, Outlands, Doomed, Gondor or even Noldor/Silvan). I tried for a long time to stick to my eagles theme but eventually gave up on it. Eagles of the Misty Mountains and Support of the Eagles are definitely the best Eagle cards I reckon, such epic stats/stat boosts.
My favorite eagle deck that I've built did not include Radagast. I had him in there originally, but he never seemed to be worth it. With the spoiled Gwaihir, he might be worth it, but I'm still not sure. As for heroes, Prince Imrahil and Eomer work very well with them since they benefit from the eagles inevitably leaving play. After that, the best option is probably a strong Tactics defender (Beregond is who I prefer). You'll need at least 2 Tactics heroes in order to pay for those eagles. Horn of Gondor is also a pretty strong choice to play with eagles, obviously.
If I did not care about theme, I would say Thalin, Ěomer, Imrahil be best. I agree 2 Tactics at least. Leadership is good for Sneak Attack. The above will start at reasonable 30 threat, with 3 willpower questing from the gun. Defence can be provided by the eagles. Thalin works with Descendant, somewhat. Also, a Dwarf hero and a Leadership hero means King Under the Mountain. Card draw could be helped by Valiant Sacrifice, resource acceleration by Horn of Gondor. Cram for more action advantage. Gondor cards like Gondorian Shield or Gondorian Fire are represented. Cheap Leadership allies also possible.
I am now almost tempted to try this.
Theodon, Merry and Legolas for solo
Boromir, Bard and Brand for multi
I posted a deck last cycle for Birds

there is another one from me a few posts latter
Not running a pure Eagles deck right now, but in my current two-handed run the Tac/Lead deck does really well using Thalin in combination with Gwaihir/Sneak Attack/Born Aloft on Descendant of Thorondor; and also Gandalf, Rumil and Farmer Maggot for more direct damage. Thinking of adding Meneldor´s Flight as well.
The damage a single Descendant can sometimes wreak is truely astonishing, but you have to keep your starting threat relatively low to keep enemies in the staging area.
Edited by byzantineAlso, I played Eagles a lot because I love them from the books, and I have found Radagast thoroughly lacking. If he cost 3 he might be worth it, but as is, I´d rather just have another eagle then him. Gwaihir on the other hand works amazingly well for them.
Yes Radagast is big dissapointed.... there is much better cards for eagles now.... is a bit shame.....
It seems like Radagast would get extra usage in a Tri-Sphere Eagle deck. As a neutral, he could be played almost as a resource smoother.
That's not a bad idea. There's no reason we can't have Spirit eagles who quest.
