Onyx Squadron Pilot

By Mu0n729, in X-Wing

What's the cost for that TIE Defender? Anyone know? Has it been spoiled somewhere?

Is that the PS3 ship? Most likely 2 points more than the PS 1 ship then.

FFG has seen fit to hide the PS 3 pilots of both the Defender and the E-wing.......leaves us a fun surprise.

EDIT: I stand corrected.

Blackmoon E-Wing is spoiled in the latest wave 4 preview page. 29 points.

The E Wing pilot was spoiled yesterday

What ship is he flying past?

What's more important: Does it have an EPT slot. If yes, I'll probably include more Defender in my builds. Rexler cost too much for my taste (but will still see some fight to give him a chance) and Colonel Vessery ability is too situational.

As far as I know, Onyx Squadron hasn't been spoiled anywhere. But the PS1 generic would suggest it follows the model of the TIE Fighter, TIE Interceptor, and E-wing: the next generic is PS3 for +2 points, with no EPT.

Or, to put it another way--Green Squadron is currently the only ship below PS4 to have an EPT, and at least at release it's plausible that was an attempt to make up for the fact that the A-wing is otherwise sorely underpowered.

How is Vessery situational? It's a no-action target lock against anything that's already locked when he goes to attack it. It couldn't be easier to set up, and it's a big buff.

^ I agree, Vessery will be my go-to Defender pilot. Brath is expensive and his ability is going to be tricky to trigger. More than likely you are not going to have a Focus lying around.

Looks strange but in the shape of an ISD. There it is! the NEW IMP HUGE SHIIIPP!! !

Situational in the sense that you need to build your team around it. You can't really pair him with a mini-swarm or 2-3 Interceptor, since they don't have target lock action. Unless you give them targetting computer, but now you're paying even more to use his ability. So you're left with Firespray, Shuttle and Bombers. Except for the Bombers, those ship cost a fair amount of your team, plus the 40 points you'll pay for Vessery himself.

Don't get me wrong, I think his ability is really good. It's just that you are more limited with what you can team him up with. Like Jendon if you don't bring other ship with secondary weapons.

Apparently this is from Zach Bunn of Team Covenant, seems legit. It will make a nice BH sub. I just wish it was 33 points and PS 4.

That font looks too narrow, and something about the "in credits" seems kinda dumb. Doesn't seem legit to me.

I definitely agree that it needs something . For one more point, you can have a more durable ship and a back arc with basically the same upgrades and a crew slot.

If the Onyx is 32 points then 2 of them and Vessery with Adrenaline Rush will be a fierce combo.

No ept? ****, there goes a few lists.

Kind of makes Vessery a bargain in comparison. For 3 points more you get double the PS, an EPT, and a decent pilot ability.

Oh, but it's pretty okay

Consider

Vessery + Outmaneuver

Delta Squadron + Ion Cannon

OGP + Weapons Engineer, ST-321

4 points left for something here or there, Tactician on the shuttle for instance.

Two Defenders and a Shuttle should be a strong enough list.

Or slightly iffier and strictly wave 4 is Vessery with Outmaneuver and two Shadows with FCS and SPA.

lol

I'll need to give it a try, but I'm not sold with the Defender. With the dial and the cost.

For the same price, I feel like I would be better off taking a Royal Guard Pilot with Hull upgrade, Shield upgrade and Push the Limit. I lose the White K-Turn, 1 hit point (1 less hull but 2 more shield) and Target Lock, but I gain the boost and evade action, no more red turn, 2 possible action with PtL and PS6 instead of 3.

For the Cannon slot? Like Engine25 said, for one more point you can have a Bounty Hunter. You lose the White K-Turn, Barrel Roll and 1 Agility. You gain 3 Hull, 1 Shield, Evade Action, Back Shooting Arc possibilty to equip a Crew and a Bomb. I left the base difference alone since it can go both way depending on player.

So what really set it apart is the White K-Turn. How much is it game changing remain to be seen. What turn me off is the Red Sharp Turn and only Straight Greens. When he'll be stress, it will be a little bit like a Ion Token, but with variable speed.

But even still, I'll definitely give him a lot of chance as it's a ship I want to use and love. He will play differently, and that in itself is a good reason to bring it to the table, even if it's not the more efficient use of points.

I don't know, white k-turn combos very nicely with an Ion Cannon.
