Determination

By TheGreedyMerchant, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Has determination been FAQed before April? Someone was using Determination and discarding the pilot crits and another person said that he read something that you didn't discard the pilot crits you just flip them face down. Is there any truth to this?

None that I know of.

Determination says to DISCARD the Pilot-crit.

This has not been FAQ'd away.

Your opponents may be confusing it for the similar R5 Astromech and Chewbacca effects.

Of course, only 8/33 of the Damage Deck are Pilot-crits, and Crits are not a high number of the damage cards dealt, so this is about as powerful as the card would need to be to even exist.

Determination is generally my go-to card for any EPT that I don't want to live without. It tends to automatically go to Howlrunner and Capt. Jonus on any of my builds. Oddly, I seem to only use it on Imperial builds, rarely on Rebel ones...

There's no need to FAQ it imho.

It clearly states that you discard the card if it is a Pilot critical, so neither the damage or the effect is applied.

No, it was not. And it probably never will be.

Someone was using Determination and discarding the pilot crits ...

That is correct.

... and another person said that he read something that you didn't discard the pilot crits you just flip them face down. Is there any truth to this?

That is wrong.

This is probably one of the most clear-cut cases of RTFC that I have ever seen.

While I agree... The question wasn't really what the card says.

The question the OP was asking was if the card said something different at some other time. Like if there was ever an errata for it, or something.

Indeed, plus I wasn't asking for myself I was asking for a friend.

Okay. My bad.

No worries.
